My daughter is playing rec and academy. Each week she performs great in 1 of her 2 games. It doesn't seem to matter if she's tired or what time a day the games are at. It seems more mental. For example today she chased the ball all over the field and was the first to the ball but did nothing with it. Basically she played with 100% effort but no results b/c she froze when she got there or waited for someone else to make a move. Has anyone gone through this with their daughters? It's driving me crazy b/c she practices so hard and really, really, really wants to do well. It's like the more she wants it the worse she plays. What do I do to help her get past this?

She's 7....so long as she's having a good time and is trying her best don't worry about the rest....and make sure she isn't worried about it either. So long as she is developing her love for the game, regardless of the outcome, then the rest will come in time. Generally speaking, kids' performance at this age changes when the wind blows...and will continue that way for many, many years to come. Even my 14yo DD has times when her game just plain isn't there that day...it happens.

And just some friendly advice for you from someone with a 98 DD...pace yourself...if DD sticks with club soccer you have a very LONG (and wonderful) road ahead of you. No need to stress out now. You'll have plenty of time for that when she hits U11. Besides, at the end of the day it's 7 year olds playing soccer...this is not something to worry about...enjoy yourself!! Best of luck to you! sunny

seriously what do you want your 7yr old to do well? Just let her 'play'! When she's playing with the girls in the olympics or the ncaa final four then worry about 'doing something with it'. Right now just watch and laugh, and take lots of pics and video..

I have 3 Rules:
- Give 100%
- Be a good sport (respecteful to teammates, opponents, coache(S), Refs and parents)
- Listen to your coach

If she does all of these 3 and she is have a great time, I try to keep my mouth closed... Building a love for the game has to be your primary goal for her at this age, if she isn't having fun you will end up with a cheerleader, softball, volleyball player or who knows what...

You probably have heard this before but it is always a good reminder for me... It is a Marathon not a Sprint!
