College ID camps Empty College ID camps

Post by Justwatchin98 26/10/13, 10:48 am

I know there has been chatter on here in the past about the college id camps, but I couldn't find the thread, so I started a new one.  I would like to get input or experience regarding the EXACT college camps.  There are two id camps going on at the same time and we are trying to determine the value and worth in making the decision.  The EXACT camp has more of her college choices and the other camp has only a few of her colleges that will be there.

What is the difference in the EXACT college id camps compared to other college id camps?  They tend to be a bit more expensive, but is it worth the one day compared to 2 days with another camp?

2 Senior girls on our team attended an EXACT camp last year that was more than 1 day and then committed to schools that were there. I know 1 girl did not attend this 1 day camp last year but not sure about the other. Not sure how old your daughter is. If she is a junior or senior, then I think it might be definitely worth the cost if there are schools she is interested in attending. Per these girls, they are very well run camps and they got to see all the coaches different styles of coaching and if it worked for them. Good luck!!

Thanks for the info.  So if my daughter is a sophmore, should she wait until next year?

Also, do you know if they should contact the coach attending the camp to let them know they will be there, or is that not really something they need to do for camps?

I think there is no harm in going this year if you are up for the expense. It certainly can only help, but there is time if you choose to wait. There are many colleges that have their own ID camps as well so you could wait for the specific colleges that she is interested in but not all do but that is a question she can ask in her email. I think it is a VERY good idea to email the coach of the school that she is interested in. I think at her age the coaches can email back but not initiate the emailing unless they are sending camp info, etc. But I am sketchy on all the recruiting rules. Emailing coaches is great practice for her to initiate conversations with these coaches. She will be doing that a lot in the next couple years and moving on to phone calls.. Those are even more nerve wracking. Good luck!
