Just curious as to thoughts on the Player Pass option with Classic League. Anyone, most likely D2 or D3, to use it? If so which team and why?

Not sure but do have a question and hope someone here can help.
I read the rules and understand that a player cannot play down but would that apply in this situation due to birth year or is it specific to team rostered with? For example:

If there is a player that is rostered on a U-16 team in Arlington but is a true "99" - can they be a club pass player on a U-15 Lake Highlands team within that same club?

A player cannot play down in soccer years.... a true '98 cannot play in '99. A '99 playing up in a '98 division can play in her respective age group though.

Here's hoping coaches don't stoop to the level to gain a much needed draw or win.

A Club Pass Player may play League games for other teams within their Club (referred to as “Receiving Teams” herein) under all of the following restrictions:
a. A Club Pass Player may not “play down” for a team in a younger age group (e.g., an under-15 Club Pass Player may not play on an under-14 Receiving Team);

And

Club Pass Players

Lake Highlands Girls Classic League interpretation of the “spirit of the rule”

The LHGCL board of directors believes that the rule was incorporated in order to fulfill two basic needs:

Foster the development of players by allowing them to participate within their own club at a higher level of competition without the commitment of a roster transfer.

To assist teams that may be short sided due to injury, illness, or other commitments.

Correct.
And it is my understanding through the league that Solar Gold is using it this week as well.

It's been used in the 03, 02, 01 divisions so far that I'm aware of and honestly hasn't made much of an impact (I'm sure there's a game out there where it did, I just haven't heard of many).

Most clubs seem to be using it according to the way it was written up. Lower division LH's players have played up in DI or DII games and some DD's have played up an age group in lower division games.

Right now it seems much ado about nothing but I'm sure given some time it will be exploited in any way possible.

It was exploited in D1 where one club team used it to play another team in their own club to help bolster their position to get away from the bottom.

Very true...and unfortunately they were successful.

Some others are using it for the right reason (injuries/development) like the Solar team you mentioned

I question that but you have more knowledge possibly than the rest of us. Record shows the passing player is coming from the top D1 team.

Actually you have more knowledge...or should I say more current information.

I was speaking as to what they have done up to this point

and not to what they're about to do. My bad.

It's a coach's decision ultimately. I wonder how Feet feels about it as that's a big match on Wednesday, or maybe Big blue this weekend?

So a D1 player in the same club could play on a D2 or D3 team in that same club without being on the roster?

Just quick reply to this...SG has an injured GK dating to last October. We thought she would be healthy for the spring, so we didn't sign another player in the winter just to sit on the bench when our starter returned. We played a field player there as a short term solution. When our GK was unable to return for this spring, we borrowed a GK.
There is no devious conduct. Rather than jeopardize the health of our GK and force a field player to play in goal (who did admirably for the last three games last fall and in a tourney in winter, but prefers NOT to be a long term solution in goal) we borrowed a GK.

Exactly how the rule should be used. However, I have a feeling this will not be the norm and teams will and are using it as a way to strengthen a team in important games.

You are prob right that some teams will abuse it, but it won't be us, and honestly as much as we love the young lady who is playing with us...we would have preferred to have had perfect health and to never have used it.

I think folks might be getting too worked up over this rule.  Any rule can manipulated beyond its intent, but there are consequences.

I believe teams are still limited by roster size, so its not like you can bring down a whole front or back line. Regardless, bringing in a new, temporary player unfamiliar with the team, can't be good for team chemistry. I can imagine what my feelings would be, if my healthy kid lost playing time or worse, sat the bench, over this rule. I could promise you, the coach would know them in detail.

Second, I would think parents (or coach) of a club's star player would question the wisdom of regularly allowing their DD to play at a lower level and risk injury. If an ECNL starter tears up a knee in D3 skirmish, what was accomplished?

Lastly, there is not a huge talent deficit between D1 and D2 this year. The upper D2 teams would be competitive against most of the D1 teams.

A team can deactivate rostered players to make room for up to 3 players to pass. Roster size cannot exceed league max, the work around is deactivation.

Unless an ECNL player is dual rostered on a D1 team, I can't imagine they would be allowed to play in any LH game under the player pass system.

Also, for league games they can only play for one team per day. Not sure about tourney rules.

Our older sister squad (same coach) lost their only keeper so my DD was going to fill in for the last 5 games but was not allowed per the above rule. least that's what I was told.
