DA/DA2(DPL)/ECNL/ECNL2(ECNL Composite) Empty DA/DA2(DPL)/ECNL/ECNL2(ECNL Composite)

Post by ForReal 01/04/18, 09:29 pm

Sigh. I guess it's time to start the conversation. Sounds like DA and ECNL are going to have "sister" or "2nd" teams at all or most age groups that basically train the same and play the same schedule as the DA and ECNL teams.  So where does the talent go?  If a club has both, is their 2nd team going to be the DA2 Team or ECNL team?

Is DA2 USSF driven or club driven?  An attempt to put the nail in the coffin of ECNL?  If a club's election and they push their 2nd team to DA2, why would ECNL allow a club to put it's 3rd team in ECNL?

When are clubs going to come clean about their intent for next year?

According to someone attending a FCD meeting, U13. So, 06s in the Fall.

So is it pretty much a given that both FCD and Solar will no longer have JDL for younger age groups?

Tough call.  I wouldn’t say that. There’s still a perception that they need to offer (read:recruit) a more “elite” league than LH supposedly offers at U11-12. I guess it depends on how well the clubs get along - especially if ECNL kicks out DA clubs that participate in DPL and place their second best teams there. If that happens, I don’t see why Feet and Sting would continue to promote JDL at the younger ages. What good does it do them?

Personally, I’d love for them to all dial back the U11-12 hysteria and dissolve JDL. It’s a waste of time.  Identify the players within your clubs and ID them starting at U13.  But that ship has sailed.

Sad that U10-15 are going to have to live through this mess. It might turn out ok at the end of the day (whatever ends up prevailing), but lots of young ladies are going to suffer the consequences of the big egos of USSF, ECNL, and clubs.

Good question... This current soccer year was the optional first year of U13 for ecnl... Next year it is mandatory.

Was said no JDL for U13s and below.  I took that as a phase out period, allow the older teams to graduate but not adding any new age groups in the future.

Truthfully, you know who your club's top team is. Whether they are DA or ECNL those teams will garner college looks. Outside of the top team in your club, it really doesn't matter if you play ECNL2, DA2, CL, or LH. You will have to put in some work in order to accomplish your goals. None of those teams alone will get you the college exposure you are hoping to get if you don't do your own homework.

Post by soccerjohn4 02/04/18, 09:04 am

My first response is who is going to register the players and the teams, the federation have said they will not do another USSF DA league for reserve teams. The frontier conference is over multiple regions 2,3 & 4. The only governing body that could be used is US Club and I do t think they will associate them selves with a league that is competing with their flagship league ECNL. USYS will not register players for multiple region play unless national league. The DPL in Socal was a closed league system for all the socal DA teams they have 9 in that area so they did not need to register outside of the SoCal youth soccer please find out The logistics before jumping to this ship we all know the used car salesman in the flashy tracksuits can sell anything.

They will all be registered under USSF so that players can move freely between the two teams as needed. DPL scheduling will probably be done between the individual clubs. DPL players could also be registered USSF and ECNL allowing for even more movement.

I believe DPL will just include the TX and OK teams. CO, NE, and MO is an expensive trip for a 2nd team that didn't need to go that far to find competition. That would make the registration and logistics easier.

So, for instance, the FC Dallas DPL team will only play Energy, Solar, Texans, and Dash?  And that's if Texans stay in DA. No thanks.  Where are they going to get the rest of their games?

I think there's an Austin or SA team as well, and the 2 showcase/tournaments per year, but I would guess every DP player would also be playing on another team in the club in JDL, LH or ECNL

Is DPL going to be every age group, or just the non-DA age groups (U13, U14, U16)? In other words, is it truly going to be 2nd teams, or just a way to start the DA process at the younger ages and park the U16 kids while the U17’s dominate the U16/U17 DA roster?

Was told none of the other clubs want DA2, and that Dash and FC Dallas are pushing for it. In our parent meeting regarding FC Dallas 06s and 07s they called it a pre-DA team but could not answer the question as to where this team is going to play.

And Lonestar. So 5 games home and home each fall and spring? And a bunch of tournaments, I assume? And pick up with LH teams when possible?
The most obvious benefit is the training with the DA team.

You're missing the point. To the clubs these are not "teams" at all. They are a pool of resources that the club can park somewhere and draw from whenever they need to. The alternative is to lose talent to another club. the only team they are concerned with is the top team, everyone else is just a resource.

Logically it will be lake Highlands. Once the 07s move on to ECNL/DA/DPL/ETC. they can then give that bye to another team and gain more resources.

So following the 4x per week DA training schedule, playing DPL “league” matches + high school + ECNL or LH on teams they never train with because they are already training 4x per week with their DPL team?

Someone either hasn’t thought this one through very well, or is getting sold the Brooklyn Bridge on this one.
