ECNL Try-Outs
So are any other clubs holding open try-outs for the 95G age group ECNL squads? To my knowledge, FC Dallas is the only one at this point.

Heard that half of his former team at Sting is headed that way looking for their stardom in ECNL.

This year only, anyone can attend ECNL tryouts without a release. As long as it is a designated ECNL practice. Whether you are currently on a ECNL roster or on a LH's roster, you can attend these tryouts without a release.

Yes they did, I know over 70 girls showed up for 18 spots with the other 2 going to goalies.

Re: ECNL Try-Outs
was there some politicking(sp?)/crying-foul by the South crew, or some jockying for the clubs Premier League spot (which can skew dynamics)?
i would think if a true tryout were going to be held, why end up with less from the top FCD team than from the South team? And are you guys not adding any NEW players that want to jump from non-ECNL bound teams??? Cuz it didnt sound like there was any room left for new blood...which i would find odd. Rev is about to be demoted, so to make up a top-flite ECNL team, I would be looking for additional players before i just took the ones that were there. Then, if the ones that were there WERE the best, then ok....but it didnt sound like there was much room for newbies.
something either isnt making sense, or "politics" got in the way....thats my guess.

They advertised a 96 open try-out for this weekend96Guru wrote:turftoe9 wrote:#2420 wrote:I believe Solar's 96 group did.Uncle Numanga wrote:Do all the current Feet and Solar players have to try out as well?

The 70 girls comment is a little misleading. From what I understand, Solar hasnt opened up their 96 tryouts to anyone outside of the club. The girls they have had out there are from within the 4-5 96 Solar teams.

Re: ECNL Try-Outs
With the sub rule they better take a little closer look at who they are putting on the team! I guess this might be the part where coaches are more accountable. I think.Uncle Numanga wrote:Having ECNL tryouts is comical as hell to me. You mean after watching these girls play for 6 or more years, you don't already know who the best players are? The coaches must be really sucky judges of talent or they're grasping at straws.

From what I heard, there were a few girls from outside the club that were probably going to be picked up. There were some girls from all the FC Dallas club teams for the 95s that were good enough to be on the team (IMO). Honestly, I didn't know they had already picked the full roster but from what I saw it was "try-outs".

Well, since this loophole was actually discovered and started by the Texans, I think all of the other clubs are just following suit in order to have all options available.
As far as all of the coaches knowing who the best players are, your right, they should but since when can these players go look at other teams as early as March without a release?
Quit stirring the pot UNC!
Interesting accusation. Did I miss a Texans open ECNL tryout?

We missed the tryout too. Dang, I hope she can still make the team.
It makes sense for FC Dallas to have open tryouts because they have two average 95 teams. But Solar? Feet? Why on earth would they feel it is necessary to have one? Sting, Texans, Feet and Solar are all solid teams. Not sure where some wunderkind could come from that would make a difference.
And please don't talk about other age groups. This is a 95 thread.

Some 95 talk for UNC-
I agree, keep those "solid" teams intact for next season. Our "average" team will try and keep up.

Chances are good, Sting, Texans and Feet will never play your team again. Solar maybe.
EDIT: I forgot ECNL steps away from A & B Divisions and goes to regions. So we will play you again. I'll try to keep up.

Why don’t you wait until Texans get’s at least one season in with ECNL, before you start expressing what other teams need for ECNL competition? Feet picked up 5 players from ex-Rev team last season. Do you think they made a difference? You are naïve if you believe that all the best talent is setting with the Sting, Texans, Feet, and Solar. There is no argument that those teams hold more # of quality players, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that other teams aren’t carrying same caliber players. If I’m not mistaken Big Red picked-up a player off a DII team last season. How did that turn out?
FCD ECNL U-16 actually beat Solar 2 - 1 last season. They lost to ‘Feet 3 – 0, but in my humble opinion it was still a competitive game. Also, if ECNL operates like last year then FCD and Texans will play each other again.
