Registering With Home Association?

SDL and PT say that you need not register with your home association and therefore save $90 a season. Now, I know that would limit our 03 team to US Club Soccer events only.
Is that a big deal? We're not playing in a second league this fall.
But, will there be enough tournament options for us?
Should we just pay the home ass. fee to be safe?
Is there any trouble registering with home ass. in the spring if you skip the fall registration?
What are some of the other PT and SDL teams doing? Any input would be appreciated!

Back when our team was in academy we would only register as a US Club team. We were limited to US Club tournaments, but there were some around we could play including the Primetime tourneys and TFC Junior Blue Cup. There were a couple of seasons that we decided to play NTSSA tournaments so we would join our home association. They don't care if you come in at the end of the season to join as long as you are paying the fee.

A lot if not most tournaments these days register with NTSSA as Unrestricted which means they will accept US Club or ntssa rostered teams. NTSSA charges $50 per US Club roster to insure them for the tournament which most tournaments pass on all or a portion to the team signing up.
The Plano Labor Day tournament is an example of one that accepts both rosters under its sanctioning with NTSSA.

Yep. We made all our players get NTSSA docs last spring for tourneys that had always been NTSSA rosters only and ended up not needing them because they changed to unrestricted this year and we were able to us US Club roster. It's really no big deal to get one in the spring if you decide to go that way.

There should be plenty of tournament options that are now accept both. I think all the Ace's tournaments are open, any primetime tournaments, as well as the couple of Tx. Lightening sponsered tournaments as well.
