No more relegation?
No more relegation?
Is this just an error, or are the divisions being "expanded" since the U-19 group only plays what amounts to half of a season now?

I know they didn't have a QT because they didn't have enough teams to fill LH in that age group. Perhaps two DI teams folded and caused there to be no relegation?
Someone in the 96 age must have known they were short on teams there, as DTFTW 96 skipped QT and got straight in, but they are playing up one or two years now.

There was only one returning U19 team in D-II (marked with (n+1) on the bye list). Also, back to gol's comment, D-I has been expanded by not relegating the two teams from the prior year that finished 7&8 in D-I, but the top two D-II teams were moved up to D-I. There was no U19 team in D-I to make D-I be adjusted. I could see them making D-I a 9 team division to keep D-II at 10, but no team was relegated from D-I or D-II from the previous year. As far as filling the divisions, I would think that keeping D-I and D-II to 8 and 10 and forcing more teams to be in D-III would have done come closer to accomplishing that.

texflats wrote:I guess that they don't want to mess with the four teams that were promoted - they earned the bye. They had to carve out a spot in D2 for Eagles. Starting there you have 9 teams in D2. So the choice then is do you fill that last slot in D2 with Liverpool or with NTX United? If you relegate only one team from D1 then that leaves 9 teams in D1 - which is kind of a scheduling problem. So the answer is Keep 10 teams in D1 (no relagation); 10 in D2 (no relagation) and whatever is left in D3.
Another semi related question - Are they only going to play half a season again for D-I and D-II, like last year? I got the impression that a "fall" season was all that was to be played going forward. What I was told was there was a lack of interest in the spring, and teams were having trouble getting enough players, so LHGCL essentially did away with the spring half of the season for U19. The rules were never updated to reflect this, so will they go back to full seasons now?

Re: No more relegation?
Some of you have expressed concern that our U19s are not playing in the Spring. To be clear, U19s are absolutely playing in the Spring. Also, in response to another concern about the distribution of the league fees, we have adjusted the fees as follows:
Fall Season - $700
Spring Season - $300
Thanks in advance.
