Ok here is an idea... football (the American kind) has the same number of players on the team (I think...it IS 11, right?). But they have four officials on the field. Maybe we need another ref on the field to catch stuff like that. Maybe then we wouldn't be having all the officiating problems we're having in LHGCL. Listen up FIFA...change that rule for U-19 and below so we can protect these kids' developing brains!

should be automatic expulsion from the team. possibly an assaut charge too.

I bet she wouldn't of apologized if she wasent caught on camera. Get rid of her make an example out of her. I don't blame the ref IF he/she didn't see it. Can't call what you don't see.

I agree with you shelby. NTX soccer side judges and the umpires too are mostly clueless. Talk about irony.

The girl who got knee'd showed some class. I think many players would have immediately retaliated and I would not blame them. Soccer is a tough sport already, anyone doing something like this where there is not even an outside chance of it being a play for the ball should not only be red carded - but out of competition for awhile.

Everybody knows you can't kick or knee the head of a downed opponent. Someone send her a copy of the unified rules!

2 girls kicked my dd in the chest/head after she made a save and the ball should have been dead. DD dropped the ball after the head kick and a third girl scored. Went from 0-1 to 1-1. My dd was kod. No cards, no calls other than we now had to go into PKs. I even have it on tape. As they are stablizing my DD neck to load into an ambulance that drove on the field, other team starts screaming about delay of game because our girls didn't want to leave my dd's side. My dd is now okay, but thought this was a career ending game for about 3 months. Happened at a tournament held at UTD. Nothing seems to have changed.

girls soccer is being refd like it is MMA. In England they file assault charges.

I am sure this isn't the first incident. Probably has the coach and all of the parents saying to "go hard" etc. She has probably had plenty of reinforcment of the behavior that lead to that. The girl should be suspended and yes community service would be nice and maybe a little therapy. But the coach should also face an investigation from the school and probably a suspension of a game or few. Believe me if the coach knew he had some skin in the game that would have never happened

i guess you didnt play the American kind of football, you take as many hits after the play as you do during (a little exaggeration) but if you played you would know what happens in the before, during and after every play not to mention the bottom of the pile. Football is a very physical battle and should not be compared to this cheap shot.

I think what this girl did was wrong but an extra ref isn't gpoing to stop it. Cheap shots are taken by cheap players, raised by cheap people.

This wasn't the first incident... this was just the first incident that was caught on video and went viral.

Sad and totally unacceptable.

I agree with those who say this doesn't appear to be the first time. Judging by the reactions of players #2 and #16 on White team, they both seem to take it in stride, no shock, no surprise, which will tend to indicate that they are 'used' to doing or seeing that.

LHGCL is being played like MMA and the spectators are treating it much the same. Contact is encouraged instead of skill and creativity being highlighted. The rough physical thug is accepted as "part of the game"
