yes, you missed something. Smile

The reference to U14 is just that a previous PPL D1 team (and previous LH D3 team the year before that) has decided to play up an age group instead of being a LH QT candidate.

There should be a prediction thread for the four D3 spots, but not until the combatants are known. We should know in another week or so.

Yes, I agree... it is alway fun to watch and make predictions....

Hmmmmm.... who to nominate???? Since Keepersweeper is "new" to the boards, I'd like to make that nomination.

I second HookIt's motion. We should know the QT entrants by next weekend. Maybe there's a link out there with some early registrants.

Since I have been elected to go first, here goes:

Qualifying Teams:

Texas Restar(don’t think they had much turnover, good enough to requalify)
AFC Red(After a slow start, finished strong in the Spring – were looking for a goalie)
Frisco Fusion(Don’t know much about this team but the won PPL D1 so I’ll give the thumbs up)
NTX Strikers (They can score, hope the defense can hold the lead)

Honorable Mention (Make it to Week 2 but can’t pull it off):

Lady Aztecs(Scrappy team with some speed but needs some size to bust through defenses)
Sting West(A lot of turnover, will they gel in time, need to figure out how to score more)
Dallas Kicks Blue(Struggled at the end of the Spring season, need to score more)
Liverpool Keegan(Toss-up between them and the Strikers, Strikers won the coin flip)

Didn't AFC Red get their butts handed to them by Kick Blue at one of the Memorial Day tournaments? Or was that Magenta? Or was that Gold playing as Blue? I can never tell............................... Suspect

Yes I'm a homer, and don't know who all played with them on memorial day tourneys...but I was at the signing party, and I have seen the team. Kicks blue is much improved on personnel alone over last year. That's why Kicks Black was started as another level under Kicks Blue. I was told there are girls on kicks gold who are good enough to start D1 that wanted to play on blue this year because these girls know eachother.

Would be surprised if blue doesn't qualify and end up top 5 D3.

Kicks Blue was only lacking scoring in the spring. If they manage to get that fixed, they will be formidable in D3.

They need a little more than a few scores to cover the defense. They gave up 13 goals in the last 4 league games. They also gave up the most goals of any of the D3 teams at 35.

I'm confused. The KG girls "wanted to play on Blue" but are not playing on Blue or "wanted to play on Blue" and are now playing on Blue. If the former, then I'm not sure I understand the point. If the latter, then that does sound like a stronger team.

Both AFC and KB (and probably every other team) had guests at Memorial Day, so I'm not sure how predictive the results are of next season. Also, the tournament was well before signing day, so who really knows how representive any roster was at that point.

To be fair it was just a passing comment about one player who a few SC parents were hoping would get moved to D1. Far as I know she is still on gold.

It had nothing to do with why I think blue is stronger, just pointing out blue is a desired destination these days within "Kicks Nation".

In terms of rosters, I saw all those blue players roll up on stage at signing day, and I've seen them at the combined practices. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

So did the seven players formerly with FC Dallas South Blue that went to Kicks spread out over all the teams or were they the seedlings for Kicks Black?

I honestly don't know who is who. I just saw a bunch of girls out for blue, and they looked like a strong bunch. Beyond that couldn't tell you much. I'm sure they'd prefer yahoo's like me be quiet so they can sneak up on folks.

Okay. Got it. I think I know who you mean. She came up and gave us a big hug at the Memorial Day tournament, and it was great to see her and her family.

It was strictly expansion...TX Lightning still has that girl on there squad

I would expect for TX Lightning to be a bit stronger since the 3 that came from FCD South are very strong players and should contribute a lot for them

All of these teams are contenders. Some have had significant turn over. Not sure how many signed. New players will take time to gel with new teams. Got to see some of these play in Ken Smith and Kyle Owen.

My guess will be Kicks Blue, NTX Strikers, Frisco Fusion, & Red Star.
