Which league are you in now?
The thing to consider is how competitive your team will be in a league. You don't want to get beaten badly every week but you also don't want to win in a blowout each week either.

Basically, I think that's a correct statement.  It's a herd mentality.  You go where the best competition is going.  And, if you are a top team, you get to choose where you want your team to play.

@LakeDad, currently in PrimeTime (grapevine). What's the name of the academy league that plays in Carrollton and is it a good league?

CFBAL.

There are two teams there that look to be rising above the rest, i say that, but they just faced off and the score line wasnt that close, but no clue on the actual game.  The rest are silver division, no offense intended.

It all depends on where the majority of the top teams decide to play. CFBAL has the nicest fields and they rarely rain out. Primetime has questionable fields and they always rain out. Seems Primetime has become more of a starting point for new academy teams and you wont ever find any real competition there. Come on out to the East for the real deal. If you can get it sorted like the 05s and have 4 divisions at CFBAL that would be ideal.

Here is a recommendation to the 06s, do with it what you desire.

5 of the more of the upper 06 teams need to all agree to go play in one league together, reach out to the league greatest, all knowing, all being, board leader that will bend over backwards to make the experience for your team the best possible and commit to playing in that league early and the rest will all follow.

In my opinion only, there is only one league that has shown over the past several seasons to have a good pulse on what the academy ages need and want and has a proven track record of delivering. CFBAL

Good luck...

If this can be done it makes for a fun season.  The '03s did this and by the spring of U10 season TGPL had 20-24 strong teams playing in 2 divisions.  One note, it seemed to build over a few seasons - there were not 20+ teams the first season.  I remember teams complaining that they could not get into TGPL for the fall U10 season because they only took 10-12 teams.  The following season they expanded to two divisions.

As to CFBAL v. SDL v. TGPL I don't know, but as with most things it seems to be ever changing.  As my girls went through academy it swung from SDL being tops to TGPL.  Now it seems like CFBAL.

Best of luck.

Thanks everybody for the comments. I learned a lot (I'm a parent not a coach). I hope the CFBAL does continue to rise as that would be the most convenient location for me.

It's not a question of it can be done, but rather if the coaches are willing to get it done. So far the answer has been no. Maybe that all changes soon.

CFBAL will be having a top 06 team sign up this coming Spring... nuff said

Will the rest of the big dogs come out to play is the question as futbol stated. The 05 coaches seem to have gotten it together.
