Not sure if anyone was saying "Screwed" a much as "shame that kinda sucks". Also you have to look at the bottom of the group competition more than the top.

I said "screwed"...but meant "shame that kinda sucks"...pardon my language.  SRFC tied DT Scott (0-0) several weeks ago at the Michael Brown Classic...would have been nice to see how a 2nd match went.

Not a good tournament to measure. Michael Brown was a "friendly" tournament and DT Scott played it as a friendly. Different formations girls in different positions, etc.

I think it would probably go like this:

"Ladies, great tournament.  Unfortunately, we needed to win that third game in order to advance.  I know, that's stinks, but that's how the tournament director set it up.  We won our bracket but needed to win every game in order to get the most points we could.  We will get them next time.  Ready, break!"

Tournament personnel has already been on and explained some of the odd circumstances regarding this tournament.

That being said, I don't think you can say SRFC was "screwed", however the advancement of teams into the knockout stage was very "unfair."

To have 4 distinct brackets and not have the bracket winners advance is borderline criminal.  Yes, the brackets were lopsided but the only way a tournament can be fair in advancing is to judge teams by their common opponents within their group.  You could argue that Sting Chacon was "screwed" by being put in the same group as DT Scott, but they knew what they had to do in order to possibly advance.

It was clearly stated in the tournament rules, so SRFC really doesn't have an excuse since they would have advanced should they have taken care of business.  However, there is no question that they should have advanced given they were a group winner.

The advancment of teams into the knockout stage is really the only thing the TD missed the boat on.  All the other things were a matter of circumstance and were either scheduling or weather related.

We did discuss weather options with God during our planning.  He presented a few, biting cold with no wind, 40 days of torrential rain, light drizzle, heavy rain of frogs, etc.  We opted for pleasant temperatures with a stiff wind.  I'll take the hit on that - others wanted the frogs.  Full disclosure - for the Qualifying Tournament, we have agreed on blazing temperatures with no breeze whatsoever.

You guys are a trip. You can't put all the "good teams" in the same bracket because they all won't advance. You can't bracket the tournament like it was because it was lopsided. You can't make a bracket with evenly matched teams because that produces ties so the winner gets "screwed." So basically it's a no win. If anybody should be complaining its Chacon.

There is a gotsoccer glitch for which we are trying to get resolution. For some of the age groups, gotsoccer was not posting correctly or calculating the points correctly. I will post an update and restore the link on the tournament website when they get it resolved.

And would they have gotten enough points to even advance? It's all hypothetical. I do agree though, that based on "ranking" and game history they had the most legitimate complaint.

NO team in this tourney could have beat SCOTT "this" weekend. So brackets/points/etc.. is irrelevant.

Ill have to take your word for that. I just think to say "NO WAY" Chacon beats LFS is a little crazy. LFS has tied an '05 team and Liverpool Redknapp in the last two weeks. Allowing a goal in both games.

I don't know exact personnel on those teams but my observation of Sting Chacon and LFS were they were missing some players.  They just did not seem as strong as what they were 4-6 months ago.

I guess you're right. The gap is closing. DT South is the new defacto #1 after their lopsided victory this weekend an DT Scott looked like a rec team yesterday.

BTW, LP Redknapp did not play in this tournament, as far as I know. Some other LP team played. They didn't look bad, but DTS took care of them pretty easy.

They will qualify as D'Feeters. Why risk using LFS name and D'Feeters losing out on the deal both club made.
