Michael Brown's blues Empty Michael Brown's blues

It's the eve of the quintessential friendly fiesta and no one seems to care. The brackets are in and they appear to be competitive. Hoping everyone can stay warm for the first two nights. And, yet, there are points at stake. Any interest in dialogue?

I wouldn't mind seeing in person just how dominant is the Flanagan OFC forward getting all the buzz. Texans have a stingy D...she puts up two or three on them she might be the real deal.

No worries, it's the calm before the storm.

I have seen the OFC 01 team play many many times back in OKlahoma. The forward is a very good player and one of three OFC 01 players that can play with any team they tried out for. The goalie and one mid fielder are just as strong if not stronger than the forward and should be mentioned in any of these conversations. The problem OFC has is playing top flight teams on a regular bases. That is hard to do in Oklahoma and they have to travel to Texas to really be tested. Us okies always look forward to seeing how the Oklahoma teams stack up with the good North Texas Teams. If a few of the top girls here in Tulsa ever decide to join OFC as rumored it will make them very strong and allow them to compete with anyone in the region. Depth is probably thier weakness. Look forward to seeing how everyone does.

Do they ever cancel/postpone local youth soccer games due to extreme cold weather?

Apparently FC Dallas doesn't. Let's see, current conditions in Frisco, it's 28 degrees, 22 mph wind, feels like 13 degrees. Perfect conditions for soccer and flu!

The only way to catch the flu is by being exposed to the influenza virus.
Flu season coincides with the cold weather.
So people often associate the flu with a cold, drafty environment.
But, they are not related.

Dress warm.

@Coach, you must be affiliated with FC Dallas. You guys are the only ones that want to play tonight.

How do you cancel games just a while before the scheduled kick off time when the weather forecast has been the same all week? No problem with cancellations with suprise weather happens but this has been expected for some time. Some of us drive a long ways to get to these events. Couldnt even get my 5 bucks back for the u turn I made in parking lot. Thanks for nothing fcd and tournament director

Anybody get an explanation why the 8:30pm games were cancelled after the 5:30 games had been played, and the 7:00pm games were already in progress? Not complaining about our game getting cancelled tonight, it just seems like a bit of an odd decision...

Really hard to understand this. We played our 7 PM game and it was so cold and windy. Weather conditions the same at 7 as they would have been for the cancelled 8:30 games. Nothing constructive or fun about playing soccer in that weather.

I can think of 3 possible reasons:

1) A player/coach/ref/parent (or multiple thereof) had a medical issue directly related to the cold.
2) Some kind of temp/windchill threshold for automatically cancelling games was hit during the 7pm games that wasn't hit before the 7pm games (i.e. windchill bottomed out at 11 degrees during the 5:30pm game, but then hit 10 degrees at some point during the 7pm games)
3) The refs that were assigned to work last night were all scheduled to work all 3 games times, and it was decided that an extra 2 hours in those conditions posed problems for the refs.

Just curious as to which it is.

Thank you very much for canceling the 8:30 games! Great decision! I feel sorry for the others that had to play.
