CO Real Cup Empty CO Real Cup

Post by 00scrmom 27/05/14, 09:01 am

Just want to give a shout out and big Kudos to Dallas Texans FTW and Sting West West for representing NTX well in the Real Cup. DTFTW went undefeated, overall 1-3-0 and a point shy of making the finals. SWW went 3-0-1 and just shy of making finals as well.
Some questionable officiating and some bad weather put a slight damper on the weekend but overall we had a great time. The fields were incredible, thickest and greenest grass I've ever seen!  cheers

Sting North 01 Angell had a great weekend as well and we totally agree with the officiating!   Evil or Very Mad   Denver was a great place to hang out during the tournament.

LOL PR...and very proud of it too!

Weather...did y'all win the final? They haven't updated several scores for finals. Congrats for a good tournament!
Disappointing to hear you experienced the same with the refereeing. We kind of knew it was going to be tough to fight the dislike for NTX teams but it was unreal how obvious the calls against us were.

We lost 2-3. They awarded our host club opponent 2 PKs for very incidental contact in the box that they converted. No way would those calls have been made in a Championship game here. I don't want to sound cliche or come off as complaining but ours girls are not known as an overly physical team. We didn't have a single call go our way all game- not one free kick. We saw more yellow cards this weekend than we've seen in 3 years of LHGCL too! That is fine, but it does need to be called both ways. It very definitely wasn't.

Sounds more of less the same...our first two games were definitely affected by the officiating. We saw two yellows over the weekend and both to girls most likely not to receive a yellow in LHGCL! One being my DD....anyone that knows my DD would raise an eyebrow at the one! I heard several of our girls say they will never complain about NTX officiating again.

You know I totally get local pride, but it is so frustrating when officiating gets so lopsided.

We have been there a few times (last year and a few years before that). I do remember it being called a bit tighter. But, I have seen that in other out of state trnys as well. They may just be used a different style of soccer and not as physical. But tournaments in San Antonio, there I have certainly witnessed local bias.

We have been to San Antonio, Austin and Houston, and I agree Tex, local bias is always there - whether it is out of state or just out of North Texas. It would be interesting to hear from teams that come from out of the area or state that come to North Texas tournaments.

We played in the tournament and I would call the grass infamous. So thick it's tough to pass in. They need lawnmowers out there. As far as the officiating going I felt they really let things go and probably the only bad calls were girls falling down "injured" during a break away or attacking moment and the ref killing the play. But I guess when you are blowing teams away the ref calls dont make the impact. The worst part of the whole tournament was the incompetent TD. Until they change TD's I would recomend just skipping this one
