QTs in the hot July Sun Saturday Empty QTs in the hot July Sun Saturday

Post by InaB 24/07/14, 09:42 pm

Down to the last game tomorrow to see where the teams finally wind up.
Bracket A is tight point wise and Solar Silver has put themselves back into position to play spoiler with the point spread so small. Bracket B could still have a game changer, with second and third closely matched. Flash plays FC Dallas Red tomorrow while Texas Lightning takes on Velocity. Given Velocity's results in their first two games, Texas Lightning could come home with 10 points to add to their 8. If Flash wins the match against FC Dallas Red, that would put Lightning back in second place. If FC Dallas wins, or there is a tie, Lightning is out. Bracket C is locked. The only decision in Bracket D is whether Sporting or Texas takes first place and who takes second. There is no chance for Dallas Kicks or Legacy to take even second place.

There will be another day of intense heat on the fields both temperature wise and play wise.  Good luck to all.

Bracket A
GUNNERS 00G in first place with 13 points
LIVERPOOL FC AMERICA 00 GIRLS KEEGAN in second with 13 points
SOLAR SILVER 00G 3-0 in third with 11 points
MEJA EAST 00G

Bracket B
FLASH 00G in the lead with 20 points
FC DALLAS YOUTH 00G RED in second with 13 points
TEXAS LIGHTNING TXL in third with 8 points
VELOCITY ELITE FC '00G

Bracket C
MELISSA with 19 points in first place
NORTH TEXAS FUTBOL NTFC 00G BLACK in second with 10 points
MELISSA Melissa win over Renegades 9-0
RENEGADES 00G

Bracket D
SPORTING FC 00G RED in first with 19 points
TEXAS LONESTARS 00G in second with 17 points
LEGACY UNITED FC 00G in third with 2 points
DALLAS KICKS SC 00GC

I would say that Sporting should prolly be at the top of their bracket based on their result.  Misfire on that score apparently...

QTs in the hot July Sun Saturday Empty In the hunt

Post by Soccerdood 25/07/14, 08:41 am

I think you pretty much nailed it with top 2 in each bracket as the likely ones to advance. FCD Red still in the hunt but chasing Lightning that already beat them. They will both likely beat Velocity and so games against Flash will be the key.

With 5 blowouts out of 7 games, looking like a cakewalk to 2nd weekend. No dog in the hunt. I have my favs but sadly not all are in the hunt.

I am wondering how the 2 p.m. game times and the heat will impact the games. I am glad that we are not playing. I will be content to be a spectator with an umbrella and a tall icy drink.

Nah, it will be the same temperature for both teams. These NTX prairie winds can impact a game more than the temperature.

It could go as is. I think the games between LPK/Gunners and Silver/Meja will be telling. LPK may be REALLY good. If they pound gunners, that changes that bracket. If legacy gets sporting or another that had small numbers has 3 stud show who weren't there it changes things. Maybe nothing changes, but rush and gunners last year were BOTH late surprises. That third game may mean more for one than the other...and upsets can happen...the tournament is over for nobody yet.

Of course, if I had paid $800, I would play that third game even if I was mathematically eliminated. You never know...last year an 03 team had ppwk that didn't check...could get new life later. Never say die! Good luck all.

Interesting game is Flash vs. Lightning. Rematch from last week's Puma Cup in which Lightning won that round. Gunners vs. Solar Silver could be large as well if Keegan tops Gunners. Bracket C...well...you probably know already. Bracket D, Legacy vs. Sporting, if Legacy can find an upset...look out. But certainly give the nod to Sporting right now.

Lightning has come a long way in the last year, I remember their struggles and am glad to see them bouncing back in a big way.

I think it goes Gunners and Keegan. I think Gunners is playing great so far and has a mission to accomplish.

Legacy vs. Sporting - I think Sporting takes it although from what I heard Legacy played well in their first game despite the loss.

Lots of fun stuff going on with the QT! Love seeing how it all unfolds. The hot temps once again will determine who will endure and outlast!
I have one adjustment to my original prediction for round 1. LPK over Silver

Gunners
LP Keegan

Flash
Lightning

NTFC
Melissa

Sporting
Lonestars

Best of luck for remainder of Rnd 1!

Post by MrMiyagi 26/07/14, 03:11 am

Upsets Abound.
After analyzing the limited info we have.
This is by far the most exciting QT that I've seen.
Two things I ask for forgiveness.
1. I believe that Velocity is a good squad .
However qualifying for LH is a learning process.
2. I will conduct my good hearted speculation in reverse order. No intended disrespect to any Clubs as we all have been here before. Much love to you all.

D- Sporting wins/ties tomorrow
Lonestars takes 2nd despite a valiant push by Legacy on Sunday .

C-Mellisa and NTFC take 1st and 2nd
Despite good on field coaching, lack of depth may be Renegades demise.

B- this is a toss up between Flash and Lightning as both play a similar style. However Texas Lightning has the good fortune of playing The up and coming Velocity on Sunday . Lightning could be shoring up their place or a win and in on the sabbath.

A-having seen Solar Silver play impassioned soccer in the past. I'm not willing to discount them from taking second seed for next week.
Their athletism , skill set and impassioned play could very well carry them through Saturday and another win and in on Sunday .

Liverpool vs Gunners- this very well could be the upset of the tournament . Sportsnerd called them the Dark Horse. I agree .
Looking at their performance in recent tournaments, mixed in with their match up vs a quality club like Solar. I'm lead to believe that Saturday's match vs Gunners will be a great showing.
Although LPK has never played higher than Plano D2, they seem to play at an elevated level vs quality opponents.
Gunners is a veteran group of the highest quality.
If I were not committed to elsewhere I would live to watch this game from start to finish.
This match will be the story of the tournament .
Please let us know how it goes.
I can't wait to see how things shake out.

Hi mrmi, I agree that LA and Gunners will be the game to watch but I think along with their great play the Gunners have an extra push to succeed this summer. No disrespect to LA but I think Gunners will go into next weekend on top of this bracket. Next weekend will be interesting with new mix ups in the brackets.

Here's the format...
X1:1A Y1:1B
X2:1D Y2:1C
X3:2B Y3:2D
X4:2C Y4:2A

So if I figured it out right it would look like this:
Bracket 1
Gunners
Sporting
Lightning
Melissa

Bracket 2
Flash
NTFC
Lonestars
LP Keegan

Please revise if it's not...

Hi Ina,

Lightning actually has 9 points so should FC Red and Flash tie and Lightning comes away with 10 points then Lightning takes second. Smile
