03 LH Week #3 Predictions

Two weeks in the books and a Plano Labor Day Tournament. So where are we at now? Updated rankings based on my previous opinionated hyperbole preseason poll to create forum dialogue.

1. Solar- Still the GOLD standard.
2. FCD Premier (up 3 spots)
3. FCD Elite (no movement)
4. Sting Hilton (up 2 spots)
5. Sting G (down 3 spots and WT???? someone give us some updates)
6. FW Black (up two spots)
7. FCD Red (things will settle soon but great showing so far... up 4 spots)
8. DT South (down two spots... I guess GA is still figuring out the line up)
9. Sting F (up three spots)
10. DT Scott (down 5 spots...)
11. Andro just edge out Cosmos (up two spots)
12. Cosmos (down two spots)
13. Spirit (down 4 and have not been impressed with what I have seen)
14. Feet
15. Mutiny (should stay at the bottom)

Now to the predictions:
Spirit (0) vs DTS (2) Welcome to the winning side
Hilton (1) vs FWFC (1) Match of the week
Feet (0) vs FCD Premier (2) Not even close
FCD Elite (1) vs FCD Red (0) Interesting match up; Should determine if Red is 4-real
DT (0) vs Solar (4) Solar continues their offensive dominance with the real top fwd
Sting G (1) vs Andro (0) If Sting does not win this game, then you guys need a coaching change. Too much talent to not be in the win column already.
Sting F (1) vs Cosmos (0) Tough match up but SF should pull it out

I see that you have updated your D1 predictions, but what about D2? There have been some surprise teams make an early run, what is your update on rankings for D2? Have teams like Andro Blue, Mutiny White, and Sting East Dunstan made any impressions for the long haul? They sure have surprised some teams.

Let me guess. SH is a Dunstan parent. First lesson:D2 doesn't matter to most.
Andro(ayses) was decent last time they were d3 but for whatever reason didn't get it done and then had huge turnover the first year. Mutiny has always been solid and near the top.

1. Solar - #1 as long as 23 is healthy
2. FCD Elite - Best all around team
3. Sting G - Has the makings of the best all around team, it is just a matter of time
4. FWFC Black - Impressive, betting this team gets "bought" in the summer Shocked

5. Sting H - Seem to be inspired at the moment, we will see how they handle Sunday.
6. DT South - I will say it once, I will say it again, NEVER count GA out
7. FCD Premier - Not impressed... yet
8. FCD Red - Seem to be inspired at the moment
9. DT Scott - Jury is still out.. I guess they get a real test Sunday
10. Cosmos - Set plays can only take you so far
11. Sting F - Glimpses of brilliance, but not consistent - will cause some upsets
12. Andromeda - What you see is what you get. Solid team that can play with anyone, but no special sauce.
13. Feet - Building takes time, quality coaching makes this team get better throughout the season
14. Spirit - Maybe a few surprises here and there, but it could be a long season...
15. Mutiny - Attitude affects outcome

No hating going on.... All you have to do is sit back and listen when they play. It is nothing new. Hopefully a new Coach involved will listen as well - and take action.

I have never seen a team fight with one another as much as that one. Hopefully it is just growing pains and will be minimized in the near future.

I don't know the parents or kids on that team, but coach Schindler is one hell of person and coach! So far they seem to be doing much better than last year.

Come on Herradura that's not fair. Solar Chelsea will be fine with or without 23. She wasn't even there for a few games of the PLD tournament and the team did just fine. Of the 14 goals the team scored that weekend, she only had 3 so the team is well capable of scoring and winning without her. Regardless of what others might think, we do have other players that can score and they do step up and get the job done when necessary.

Hopefully she does stay healthy though. Thanks to those of you for the support, positive comments, and/or opinions about her.

Sorry Mamma, that 23 of yours is central to that teams success. Even if she is not scoring, she draws a crowd then distributes into space. They would still be a top 5 team IMO, maybe even top 3 - but not #1 without her.

Bought by/merge with 'Feet maybe? That would be my bet at this early stage. Don't hold me to it but since LW took his troops to FCD seems most likely to shore up talent with Farmers Branch club.

Feet unlikely, they don't have a boys club. Texans would be the more probable choice since this would allow him to coach his daughter and son's team. Age pure might have an impact on what happens but why mess with a good thing, I believe his dd could play ECNL and dual roster with him on FW. Problem solved and you keep being your own boss. Win/win

Cosmos chances of repeating without said players, not an anomaly, it's nearly an impossibility. If somehow they did pull it off, it's still not an anomaly. Anomalies don't occur consecutively.
Kickball is not an anomaly, it's common. Possession soccer is rare.
Coaches yelling at players an anomaly? Hardly.
A team moving down a rankings list after earning a draw against a more highly ranked team, not an anomaly. Just flawed analysis.

Barca knowing WTF he is talking about? Unlikely.

I don't know what kind of beef Barca has with the Cosmos, but he hates on them constantly. It doesn't matter who the Cosmos beat this year, Barca will say the same old crap he always says. It's kind of sad, really.

Barca picked the winner in only 2 games last week - he's hardly an authority on 03 Classic D1 soccer (his predictions last season proved that in spades). Bottom line - don't give him more credit than what he's due.

TRUST ME IT WAS AN ANOMALY
If you saw the game you would know it was a complete lesson in what can happen in any soccer match when you play around. Elite completely DOMINATED the game. Had a freak handball PK and corner kick that Cosmos scored on. These were literally the only 2 times we saw Cosmos cross midfield. Elite missed many shots and finally equalized it. Congrats to Cosmos for taking advantage of minimal opportunities. This is what makes soccer so great!
