Congrats to Texas teams representing well at Vegas cup and making playoffs.

Gold: Sting Gutierrez,
Silver elite: Andromeda, DT Mid-cities

You forgot about solar red 03 and Dtx south. By the way andromeda is not in the silver elite bracket either. Why not sure but they got placed in the silver bracket. Sucks to travel that far to play low caliber teams.

"IF" age pure weren't on the horizon and about to change everything "THEN" it would be a sad day for NTX '03 soccer.

I (like most of you who watch SoCal way too closely) thought this tournament was tailor made for a Sting Gutierrez vs Solar Red final. Perhaps some of these teams key players were at 3v3 nationals in Disney instead of Las Vegas which would make the results more palatable.

SoCal's undisputed top 4 teams (San Diego Surf, SoCal Blues - Baker, Arsenal-Brown, Legends) were not in this tournament and yet 2 of the top 3 teams in NTX underwhelmed as far as the results vs expectations are concerned and the undisputed best team was knocked out in bracket play by SoCal Blues - Holley (the preverbal 2nd team). Granted Crossfire (WA) is a perennial powerhouse but that usually starts at u14 and beyond.

Yeap....it is time to hit the reset button and get this age pure thing rolling and get to the business of getting all of the best players playing on 1 to 2 teams as opposed to having them spread out amongst 10 (or 5 ECNL).

Ha!!! The Texas solution is never better Coaching. The Texas solution is always to recruit somebody else's players....and then claim it's better Coaching six months later.

Texas way is if my dd can be on a top team and not play much it's ok. I don't see the point in that.

Why is better to have the top players on 1 or 2 teams?

I guess to make the club look good. Because it's not about developing.

In my view...because now the girls are hitting u14 where there begins to be something really cool to play for....an undisputed age level national championship. If NTX wants to be in contention for such a title then history has proven that there must be a clear #1 team and sometimes #2 team in NTX with a little distance between 1&2 and 2&3. The way you achieve that "distance" is by having more of the top girls on teams 1 & 2. Parity doesn't bode well for NTX on the national scale.

Does anyone remember when UCONN womens BBall had 5 all americans as their starters a few years back. North Texas needs to load the deck with all of the best players going to 1 or 2 teams and showing we can compete for a national championship (every year for every age group)

Uh, like Allen High School? Yeah, I know they lost a game but point still made. I can't help think of all the talent buried in the AISD that will never see the gridiron. But, they do have a killer stadium and lots of state titles...so hey, let's load up a team or two ;-)

And regarding Vegas Cup, congrats to Andromeda Blue. Only team in NTX to win a championship. Well done girls, well done.

Yeah congrats. Would have been a disappointment for them not to win the silver bracket.

North Texas team won championship in Gold in the 04s with an all Texas final at that.

We were disappointed not to see the top teams from CA in the 04 age group.  Hoping they will turn up at Super copa.

Did anyone see the Semi Final game between Sting G and Crossfire?

...according to my kid the Crossfire team was not as good as the previous team WEST COAST FUTBOL ECNL JR. I also heard that the same girl scored off (2) free kicks (one went over bar and fell through big hole in top of net). SG had 2 players out and 2 subs + brutal 5 game schedule in 3 days with very physical California teams...overall feedback is that game was very winnable. Would love to hear how SRSA vs SoCal blues game went with a 0-0 TIE.

Similar to what I heard. I also heard that a Sting G breakaway was taken away by ref after opponent fouled her. Sting G supposedly had clear advantage but ref didn't allow play to continue.
