Not sure there are any 05 parents still here, but if there are, what are your thoughts, predictions for this year's tournament?
This will be the 1st matchups between NTX DA and ECNL sides.
Will there be any surprises? Favorites? Any matchups that catch your eye? Can anyone challenge Texans ECNL for the title or are the medals already engraved?

FCD DA v LP Elite could potentially be a good matchup. Can LP pull off the upset?
OEFC v San Jose - how good are our neighbors from up north?
Group E appears to be the toughest and most intriguing group with Dash DA, D'feeters, and Texans West.
Let's discuss and hopefully the usual trolls will stay away.

Bracket Results:
Sting ECNL - Easily best in bracket
FCD DA - LPE may keep it close, but not enough to win.
Solar DA- should win bracket easily
Quakes - best keeper in the tournament, extremely talented striker
Feet - Dash could pull the upset if they get a mismatch with their fast winger
Texans ECNL - should coast to quarter finals

and.. No, my DD doesn't play for any of the teams above.

I think one of the Tulsa guys said OEFC just plays long ball with a bunch of athletes. It looks like in their last tournament against decent competition they struggled a little bit. This tournament should definitely be a step up in class. Here'd OEFC's results from Phoenix:

If that's the case I get it-play to your strength when playing tough opponents. We'll see how that works out.

On a different note I think they did a good job "spreading" out the talent in the brackets. Should be some good soccer all the way through. Hope the weather holds up.

While LPE is a solid team, if they upset FCD DA, the NTX soccer world will truly be chaos. An LH team taking down the mighty DA squad? Interesting that it’s even mentioned as a possibility. Surely it’s not.

I will qualify my statement by saying that I have not seen LPE in quite some time. But, if the team that I remember resembles LPE of today, I would certainly give them a punchers chance.
I've also heard FCD recently lost a few keys players for whatever reason. Not sure how true that is though. Anyone from FC care to confirm or deny?

Group A - no comment...DD playing in this group.
Group B - FCD DA - Good team
Group C - Solar DA- should win
Group D - Quakes
Group E - Feet - IMO favorite team for my DD to play against, bc a very, well coached, athletic, technical, & high swag rating.  Surprised if they are not at least in the semis.
Group F - Texans ECNL - Been the top of the age group for awhile...not sure if the pack has caught up.  Feet is real close.  Sting ECNL tied them but, IMO, Texan was definitely better team.

Fairly new to the 05 landscape, but I know enough to say winning this division will be hard earned!  Safe tournament to all players!

Lost players for what reason? That would be a surprise, I would think, for any high level team at this point of year, not just DA team. IMO

Group B - FCD DA - Good team FCD should win but Liverpool might be a wildcard.
Group C - Solar DA- should win Solar easily.  FCD West please and Challenge is near bottom in ECNL. Bayern does not appear to have it either.
Group D - Quakes   See no reason to contradict Skeets here.  Quakes should win in a walk.  Solar ECNL is pretty good though.
Group E - Feet - IMO favorite team for my DD to play against, bc a very, well coached, athletic, technical, & high swag rating.  Surprised if they are not at least in the semis.Might be the toughest bracket to call. Feet and Dash will battle it out again. Winner should advance.

First of all, don't believe what any tulsa person says about us. They have some kind of deep running hatred that defies comprehension. Second, we went to Phoenix without a keeper. Our keeper played in some national basketball tournament that weekend. We didn't use the keeper from our 2nd or 3rd teams. We had a few connections and just picked up a keeper that played in the area. Even with a guest unknown keeper, we were one game, a 0-1 loss, away from making the semi-finals. I challenge any team to go to a high level tournament without their keeper and see what happens. We will have our keeper for DIGC so we are excited to play as a team. It will be a tough challenge no doubt!

Interesting comment on your keeper, and rather intriguing, interesting observation on your team's defense.

I will have to say, if you relying so much on that one particular keeper to be in the game for you guys to win games, then obviously you are playing on the wrong side of the field.  Keepers are supposed to be like insurance and not the only means of (game) survival.
A strong, well balanced team can basically put a cone between the posts and still win games.   I have seen teams put their field players in goal with just bibs on, without gloves, and still win games.

Pele that would be even more interesting to see at this Tourney. Put a cone, field player with a bib or no gloves against some of these top teams in DIGC. You will be sent home 0-3 and 20 GA. At this age and older if you do not have a good Keeper then you will not have a good record. However a good keeper is no substitute for a good def.

LOL The 0-1 loss that kept us from the semi-finals was a slow roller that went through the keepers hands and right through her legs. I would love to see a team field cones as a keeper in the DIGC and see what happens...LOL FYI, I know SRPL is not the same level of DIGC, but for an example, we are the only team in SRPL that hasn't conceded one single goal. I couldn't disagree with your comments on keepers more.

OED, you are not helping yourself on this argument.  I said earlier that if a team has to rely so much on ONE keeper (and not just any keeper, 'cause obviously you had one guest keeper), and indeed this ONE particular keeper, then the game is being played on the wrong end of the field.

If a slow-roller was the ONLY goal which decided the game (1-0), where was the offense in your team, with or without that particular keeper?  I would have expected that 0 to have a positive value which makes a difference.

Now, not conceding a single goal in SRPL can be a testimony of how equally bad the other teams' offenses are rather than how good your team's keeper is.    And she could be really good, I get that, but that also means she is the only game you got..........keeps you in the game and may be you get lucky on the other end of the field.

.....otherwise a slow-roller between the hands is all you need to get you out.

Agree to disagree. Many think the keeper is the most important position on the field. You have a different philosophy, clearly. To settle this, we will play without a forward or midfielder, and you play without a keeper...we will see who wins...

Liverpool Elite is a team mentioned about upsetting and winning their pool...couldn't score on us in a home game in dallas when we had 4 girls out with flu and had to travel with subs from our 2nd team.

Liverpool Elite is a team mentioned about upsetting and winning their pool...couldn't score on us in a home game in dallas when we had 4 girls out with flu and had to travel with subs from our 2nd team.
Yeah, but LPE is not in the pool with Earthquakes.  Very Happy

Okie, no offense but stop with the poor pitiful us mantra. This is at least the 2nd time you’ve been on here with the “yeah but half our team had the flu” or “we didn’t have a goalie”. Every team represented on this board deals with issues week to week. Your team isn’t the only one that gets the flu.

You have a good team. Show up at the DIGC and let the play do the talking. You will know all you need to know following that weekend.

So what matches in pool play would be the most entertaining to watch for someone without a rooting interest?
