Qualifying Tournament Goal Differential Empty Qualifying Tournament Goal Differential

Solar McKinney 08 put up 18 goals in one game and 23 in the 2 games. Next closest in Dallas Kicks and FC Dallas Youth West with 14. All 3 of these teams are good and Classic D1 status. It’s Classic’s tournament so they can do what they want. And their fault for making them rack up the goals; demoralizing these teams. Going in the the second game Solar McKinney was in 2nd place b/c of goal differential DI Stars had 7 goals vs 5, so the the next game they had to make sure if it came to goal differential they were covered. The scenario could look like (with the 2 blowouts DI Stars & McKinney) there could be a 2 way tie with 30 points and it would come down to goal differential. Classic should have a better way than to play the common opponents, these blowouts don’t show sportsmanship and probably not fun at some point for either side.

Qualifying Tournament Goal Differential Empty Re: Qualifying Tournament Goal Differential

Shouldn't it be the coaches and parents' responsibility to know if a team (or kids) is good enough to be playing in classic or even challengingfor it? It is not rec, it is competitive soccer. Maybe those games are wake up calls to say that maybe you are aiming too high? My kids have been on the receiving end of shellackings as well. Doesnt feel good I'm sure, but a good lesson.

Congratulations to the 5 teams that made Classic League without winning one game this weekend. One of them even made D1. Then there is a 2 win team that didn't get in. So flawed. There has to be a better way.

The seeding and format of this qualifying tournament was all wrong. I am really curious how they can justify some of the brackets. There were some clear top 5 teams that were seeded lower than they should have been. And a team winning their bracket with ZERO wins????? Thats just crazy

I was definitely scratching my head at some of the group assignments. Seems really counter productive to put two top 10 teams in the same group with the expectation that only one team will get the nod to play D1. I thought the goal of the qualifying tournament would be to have the “top 20” teams qualify to play in D1? There is certainly some opportunity for improvement to the seeding/group placement process.

I agree with earlier posts. I couldn't make any sense out of the seeding nor the play format. I was looking at one of the 4 team brackets, which only played teams in its pool. A now D1 teams wasn't ranked in the top 20 in YouthSoccer, and didn't play a team in their bracket ranked higher than 50. One thing is for certain this coming year; a lot of blowouts.

Maybe you guys need a boys FBR system. This would give you head to head rankings going into qualification.

Qualifying Tournament Goal Differential Empty Re: Qualifying Tournament Goal Differential

Same thing happened last year. For some reason they went to this common opponent set up versus head to head and it's creating a lot of very odd outcomes (teams not winning a game and winning their bracket to advance to D1 for example).

Doesn't really affect the top 10, they're likely to make it anyway barring some very bad luck (Dallas Rush 07B last season for example) but it can have meaningfully affect on 11 through 20 in D1 for u11.

Just wait till u12 when the vast majority of the top players leave for DA and you get teams promoted into D1 that spent u11 as a mid-tier PPL team.
