ECNL Player ID Platform

My U13 participated in an ECNL national event/showcase over the weekend.  After the second game, my daughter asked me what the point of the event was.  I could only offer her generic responses.  I told her she can compete against teams from around the country, etc...  She is hoping to play in college, and I think she was hoping that the national event would be a player ID opportunity.  

Does anyone know how player ID works in ECNL? Do U13s get any looks at national events? or are the playoffs the real player ID opportunity?

I want to support my kid as much as I can, but I also want to be transparent with her as far as what player ID opportunities exist in ECNL especially for the younger age groups.

Don't overthink this early. No, college coaches will not show up until U16 and logic will tell you they will watch ECNL teams primarily. Yes, there are some coaches at non ECNL showcases, but the reality is their limited travel recruiting budgets are best used where the most high quality players will be playing. There is some action at the federation sponsored league (GA?) but for females, most of the action is ECNL.

The biggest recommendation I suggest is to figure out what college your DD will most likely want to go. Attend the camps of those colleges so you can meet the coach and staff and tell them your intent to attend the university/college. Keep good relations with those coaches. Figure out if they will be attending any of the showcases you DD will attend.
As mentioned by smugrr few colleges go to the younger leagues. college coaches gravitate to the top teams in the older 3 divisions.
Don't rely on your coach or manager to let you know if anyone contacted your player. Go over to the collgege coaches on the sideline and introduce yourself to the ones you are interested in.

Her choices may ebb and flow, but the idea of going to college camps is great. And talk to any on the sidelines. Good luck.
