Yep with the Bennett players helping us out, they will probably just move us right up into the gold bracket and even give us the win against Webb, so we can then play Higg in the final! And of course with our extra Bennett players, we will take the whole tournament in all age groups. I am sure of it, how about you? queen

What do you think could the Bennett players be playing with us because they want to play in the tournament, not to stack any decks. From what I understand all DT teams are carrying full rosters this weekend, they placed the girls where they could fit. We love all the girls we are playing with, but then again all the current and past Bennett/Glotz girls were always great!

Having several Bennett girls I would say Vigil team is the front runner to win this thing. The best Bennett player is playing for Vigil, that is true. It's the right defender. Super speedy, is as good as anybody in the league off the ball. I'm shocked she has not been picked up by Higg yet.

Before I say the rest, I fully realize that a number of people are egging the conversation on for the grins, trying to cause trouble and strife for other teams, but...

...there seems to be a general obsession with the concept of "the best player" matters so much, but the beauty of soccer is that you really need a team of well meshed girls, playing well together. I have seen many many many games where the highly-regarded guest players make a minimal impact on the result, if at all.

Yes, the Bennett team has a number of very good players but what makes the Bennett team excellent is how they play together, how they cover for each other, how the understand where to be at any given time, how they help each other succeed. Contrary to some parent opinions, the strength of the Bennett team is teamwork, not any one player. The core girls have been on that team and playing top level competition for 3 years with really good coaching and it shows.

This forum thread is making it sound like a few imported kids will change the outcome so dramatically for another team but that is rarely the case if you watch the actual games and not just the scoreline. A team has to be a solid team first to allow the few guests a platform to make a difference - and even then, its a maybe yes / maybe no proposition because the continuity is usually not there.

As the kids get older, any dominance enjoyed by that one super-kid that matured more quickly than another tends to erode, making the value of teamwork even more important than it already is. You just don't see forwards getting fast breaks, alone versus the goal keeper, when the girls are 13 and 14 like you still see once in a while at 9 and 10. Basketball, with only 5 on the pretty compact court, offers much more opportunity for a young gun to dominate. Soccer, with 11 in much larger spaces, demands more teamwork.

I hope people stop constantly pointing fingers at guesting as the primary determining factor of soccer matches. It isn't.

Having an 01 and 02 and just going through qualifying and into Lake Highlands with the 01 I can tell you the guesting thing will end soon enough. It's academy soccer, guesting is allowed and necessary for girls to land where they need to be come July. If it is done for those reasons I have no beef with it, if it's a big club trying to shift players to increase ranking then that's a different story. However, that also comes out in the wash come July. I saw several so called strong teams head into qualifying and get pounded because the big sister team was no longer there to add support. It is what it is and the girls still have to play the game, all of this is nothing more than warm-up for qualifying anyway. I think the 02 White bracket will be a bit tougher than people might think.

I believe the answer is the 02Dad is an ex-Texan ex-Vigil parent, as are a lot of people that seem to chime in on the negative spin against Big Red.

It doesn't make your own house look better if you burn down your neighbor's house, but some people continue to buy more lighter fluid.

I am sorry Guest, I have to step in only because you tried to insult the Vigil team. First of all, we are not a tier 3 team, if we were we would not be shamed, like you are insinuating someone should be, but would work hard to rise above. However, we have played div 1 SDL since our team was formed with and w/out guest players, We won 1st place in the Summer Shootout (we played D'feet for championship), We've gotten 1st place and placed in several 3v3's and we were undefeated one season in Futsal and next season took 2nd place to Glotz team. I am not sure of the need to try and insult a team that is working very hard to just improve, but if you are a 3rd tier team yourself and would like to play us, I am sure we can arrange that. (any outcome is always possible)If you are an upper team we can also arrange a scrimmage, we love to learn from upper ranking teams by competing against them. (again any outcome is always possible) Anyone who knows me, knows I am not dilusional about our team and where we stand and what we can do at this point but I am very passionate and believe we have not hit our peak either.
Also, since you are such an elitist I would love to ask you to leave the forum and to invite all and any tier 3 parents to participate in conversations as much as they want. People like you are the reason it took me so long to even say anything on this forum. Now I am having a blast, except when rude people like you come on and try to insult a team, when you are really mad at a person, 02Dad. Leave my team, other parents and Dallas Texans out of it.
