Sure is quiet on the 01 forum. Anyone want to take a crack at TFC Blue Cup divisions for something to do?

For what it's worth...I had some extra time on my hands today and while the brackets are not out yet I kinda put teams into brackets. Mind you, VERY LOOSELY based on their standings in their respective leagues. I did not take previous tournament play into consideration and frankly don't know much about some of these teams. It was just fun to speculate....no intentions of causing controversy. However, I give the over/under on nasty comments about 1/2 day. I hope there is no name calling as I am clearly a novice at this compared to so many experts. Again, just in the spirit of fun.

This is my SWAG at seeding based on league standings and tournament history that I could find for the teams from outside of NTX.

Question is whether they will do 12-team Gold/Silver, or 8-team Gold/Silver/Bronze brackets. Not a particularly clean split between 8/9, 12/13, or 16/17 that would suggest one format vs. the other.

Probably depends on what the various teams have requested to play when they signed up.

I'm just excited so many teams finally signed up. A few weeks ago, I think there were 7 teams and Gophers was saying we would walk thru this tournament, now he has us ranked 5th!. Happy to see the competition picked up and hopefully the weather with hold.

This is definitely a MUCH higher quality field than what was signed up when I made that post. After looking a little more closely at the list, IMO, the best option would be 8 team Gold/Silver/Bronze brackets. You will get much more competitive games throughout the brackets, which is beneficial for all involved. Too much talent disparity between 1-3 and the teams around 11-14, and then again between 11-14 and then 22-24. If they go with 12 team brackets, my guess is that you'd see several 4-5+ goal blowouts that don't serve anyone's purpose.

In particular I think the 8 team silver in that case would be a very interesting bracket, as some of the better PPL teams would get a chance to see where they stack up against LH D3 teams.

With 8 teams in Gold division the brackets would probably break this way:

This would make for some very close and hard fought pool play games. Should be fun!!

Interesting. TD went for a 10/14 split between divisions.

Quickfoot has their reindeer games scheduled that Sat at Richland College as well. Is there room for both this tournament and QF?

Going to be crowded, but it looks like "YES".

Last year, Reindeer Games was primarily played on the South fields at Richland (#11-#14), plus two of the other fields (last year it was #4 & #8 ).

Looking at the Blue Cup schedule, there aren't any Blue Cup games on Richland #11-#14 and Blue Cup also doesn't have any Saturday games scheduled for fields #6 & #7 either. So my guess is that #6 & #7 will be used by Quickfoot if they don't have enough room on #11-#14.

It will definitely be a zoo with both tournaments going on and could be some long walks from the parking lot to fields.
