Slide Tackling Rules

At what age, in NTX, is slide tackling allowed for Girls? Depending on who I ask I seem to get different answers. I went looking for it in the NTX rule books but seem to have problems searching for correct phrase or phrases to find that specific rule for this age group. Don't want to be encouraging my DD to slide tackle if it's not allowed in the field of play at this age.

as far as I know if the are orl enough to run they can slide tackle. It's really not a tool you see much in the girls game

That's what I thought but a couple of tournaments they whistled and warned the girls there was no slide tackling as it was too dangerous and not allowed at this "age". I couldn't find the rule stating this unless it was a tournament specific rule maybe? Despite what some think and claim, there is no prohibition of slide tackling on the books at any age in NTX, except for the TOP soccer outreach program where it is prohibited.
That being said, any individual league or tournament might impose such a rule at their discretion.

what IS illegal is making contact with the player without touching the ball, or making contact with player before, during or after touching the ball. it is not a foul if the ball is picked clean and then the player falls over the leg/body.
reckless and violent foul tackles are punished with yellow and red cards respectively.
As has been said, specific leagues may prohibit the tactic. Youth and adult coed leagues usually disallow slide tackling.

It is more frequent than not that you make contact with the other player during a sliding tackle. The nature of the tackle usually puts you on a course to cross the other player's path. Therefore...

Just because you got the ball does not alleviate you from also fouling your opponent. As a State Referee, I see this all the time. "But I got the ball!!", sure, but you could have broken his leg in the process...

There is no rule against slide tackling especially on the competitive side of things. I do know that in rec u8 and under does not allow slide tackling after that it appears to be allowed and some of the adult league. I have never seen a competitive league at least here in Texas on the youth side that does not allow slide tackling but I am no expert and dont know about all leagues.
