Which do you think
Im leaning towards tournament team unless you are in ecnl
With tourny team you can play better competition have more colleges look at you and there is a tournament here in the dfw area almost every week.
You can travel but dont have to
I like the idea that you could play a tourny find out what you need to improve on go back and practice that for 2 or 3 weeks then go play another tourny with a scrimmage or 2 in between

League play
If you are in the top division you can play good competition if its not rained out and alot of our games are thrown together. Lake highlands is not what it used to be and 0 coaches are there to see you play. Honestly ive seen way more college coaches at highschool games than lake highlands

So what are some of the good and bad and what do you think we have never played on a tourny team so would like some feedback

I assume you're talking about older teams because no U-little wants to play just tournaments, nor should they.

If you live in a large metropolitan area (DFW, Austin, Houston), then why not play league games in the best league your team can play in? It gives you more consistent play with less cost and travel. Rainouts happen at tournaments too and you do not get makeup games or your money back (hotels & gas either) in most cases.

The showcase type tournaments don't run constantly throughout the year because most teams are in league play and wouldn't be able to attend. A tournament team is stuck without games for long stretches and scrimmages are only good to a point.

If your team is strong enough then you are most likely already in some form of travel leagues, ECNL, Premier League, NPL.

My suggestion for high school aged players is to play in the best league that you can make in the fall and then attend larger showcase tournaments in the winter and spring.

Play high school soccer for fun but don't expect too many top tier college coaches to be in attendance.
