Not following, perhaps because there are no real details yet, but how is QT likely unnecessary?

Any Jr ecnl or ecnl team would not need to qualify for those leagues. If one of those were to double up and play lake highlands also then yes a QT would have to be done by that team.

QT would only apply to a team going into lake highlands.

received Today at 8:45 AM

Coaches, Players and Parents,

We are finally through with our spring season and managed to avoid a direct hit from Mother Nature which was a welcome gift. Final Standings and Earned bye spots are available on our website. Congratulations to all of our teams that earned a bye back into LHGCL.

There is a lot of chatter on the street and we want to address rumors, and communicate some exciting things happening at LHGCL

1st- Lake Highlands Girls Classic League is operating business as usual with regards to rules, byes, governance, QT, divisions etc. There are no changes to our existing Classic League D1, 2 and 3 structure for U11 - U19.

2nd - We are proud to announce the Lake Highlands Champions League- NPL for U14-U18, an additional and alternative regional path for ANY club in our classic league that earns an invitation by way of their final division 1 standings. The Champions League will include play against the Top Clubs from TX, OK and STX. Winners of the Champions League will have the opportunity to compete for a National Championship in the Summer of 2017. Players will have the opportunity to be showcased as well as evaluated and recommended for the the id2 Olympic Development Training Program. Invitations to our top 3 finishers in Division I will be sent out very soon along with more information. Participation in the LH Champions League is in addition to regular league play and is voluntary.

3rd - Lake Highlands Jr and Premier Developmental League -
This is a separate league and exclusive to those clubs in the Texas ECNL conference. It has no impact on our regular division play or standings.

Thank you for your continued support of The Lake Highlands Girls Classic League, we are excited about these new opportunities and wish each team the best of luck as you head into your new soccer year. We will be updating our website with important dates, news and information very soon!

of course.  why change something that is already out dated, inconsistent, and undesireable anyway

Would be great if the cost of Classic League coaching were to be reduced 50% or more due to the acknowledgement that it is now really a Rec+ level league after u13. Particularly for D2 & D3.

So will the big clubs that go through qualifying play this league? Does that skim the top 10 big club teams off the top?

Sounds like it's just an additional league for the ECNL clubs to have additional playing opportunities. Doesn't sound as if it has any effect at all on LHGCL D1 teams for normal league play.

New Division added to LHGCL? - Page 2 Empty Re: New Division added to LHGCL?

Post by ElClassico 20/05/16, 02:11 pm

Let's look past the fact it's all about money, it's a given.

They created a NPL league that all teams can participate in if they finish top 3 in D1. This is a good thing IMO it adds an option other than ECNL for teams to showcase their players. It will be interesting to see if big clubs will have an ECNL team AND a NPL team or will they wear out only one group of girls. Ultimately this will give clubs like Liverpool, Kicks, Andro something more to shoot for. I see this as a huge benefit to these clubs as girls may not run to an ECNL club so quickly.

They created a league for ECNL club teams. Again it doesn't say that the clubs designated ECNL team has to participate. Maybe this is a good place for all the "B" teams to play? Maybe it's simply additional games for the ECNL teams? Interesting thing is that some ECNL clubs may have a hard time fielding an additional team that will compete (having a hard enough time competing in ECNL as is) does this help them or hurt them?

Do these leagues water down the existing league? Probably a bit, but in may depend on if teams are going to be allowed to play in multiple leagues. If not then you're simply culling a few teams from the league at the very top end. Not the end of the world.

All in all it looks to me like it's simply more opportunities for girls to play competition on their level rather than being in 6-0 games on either side.

Not hearing this is an additional league- although some may choose to do both if allowed.

NPL league wouldn't skim teams from LH as they have to qualify for it each year.

Seems like LHGCL might want to clearly explain how all of this rolls out since signing day is 6 weeks away. My DD is with one of the teams that will be affected by this change, so one way or another, I'd like to know what the next year is going to look like. It feels like all of our DD's are some sort of science experiment with all the changes being made!

Why would clubs opt to play NPL instead of the Regional Premiere League? Hasn't the Regional Premiere League been more competitive than NPL in the past?

all those teams you mentioned already have something to shoot for.  theres this thing called regional premier league that is already doing most of what this league is.................why add something thats exactly the same and involves exactly the same teams as regional premier league.

ecnl formed the composite league for this year and for that reason.  either lake highlands wants a piece of the action or theyre just referring to the composite league under a different name

My guess is to get under US Club soccer, which is what ECNL is under.

New Division added to LHGCL? - Page 2 Empty Re: New Division added to LHGCL?

Post by Guest 20/05/16, 03:01 pm

Champions League (LHCL) - U14-U18.  Basically a US Club sanctioned version of Premier League.  This is an "in addition" league to LHGCL and PDL.  ECNL clubs get an automatic bye to place 1 team.  Then top 3 LHGCL D1 finishers will also be offered a spot.  Am hearing that automatic ECNL byes will be for the composite teams, but not sure what exact roster rules will be, so don't know if it could include ECNL players and/or teams.  Am hearing that Top 3 LHGCL D1 will be allowed to choose between a spot in Champions League, and a spot in Premier League, but won't be allowed to play both.

Premier Development League (PDL) - U14-U18.  This is where the Composite teams will be playing their regular league games.  LH will run the league with a parallel schedule/venues to ECNL. Haven't confirmed whether official scores/standings will be kept in this league.  This league will include teams from ECNL Texas Conference Clubs, 1 team per club.  This league will be "instead of" playing in LHGCL, although since PDL/LHGCL are sanctioned by different entities, just like ECNL, it looks like there will be the option to dual-roster.  For 2016-2017, it looks like PDL will just have U15 & U17 divisions, but it looks like the option is there to expand it to each of the U14-U18 age groups in the future.

Jr. Development League (JDL) - U11-U13.  ECNL Clubs only.  The "official" communication that I saw implies that JDL will be only the 5 NTX ECNL Clubs (no STX/OK), but am hearing conflicting info that STX/OK may be included in JDL as well.  The NTX clubs will have the option of placing up to 2 teams in the league (which seems consistent with NO STX/OK).  No scores, No standings, No promotion/relegation.  The "official" communication that I saw did not specify if JDL was intended to be an "instead of" or an "in addition to" LHGCL league, nor did it provide any details on roster rules.  I have a feeling that it may be intentionally ambiguous to allow the ECNL clubs to decide how they want to populate this league (this would be consistent with the no scores, no standings).  Looks to me to be a league of Jr. ECNL Friendlies, likely with liberal roster rules, and leaving it up to the clubs to decide if they want to participate "in addition to" or "instead of" LHGCL. (We all know which way the majority of the Whackadoodle NTX soccer parents will want to go. Twisted Evil )

Leave it up to clubs/teams to decide if they think the US Club regional/national path is better for them than the USYSA regional/national path. Some may prefer one path over another.

Yes. Us Club sanctioned, but administered by LH.

I can't believe LH is working with US Club and NTX approved it. Maybe LH is looking to take the entire league to US Club in the near future.

This is either going to be great or a disaster.

Who said NTX approved it?

I'm assuming you mean NTSSA, and they have no control over any of it, other than to pull their sanctioning of LHGCL. I would assume that if NTSSA pulled their sanctioning of LHGCL, LH would probably just go get US Club to sanction LHGCL.

No scores. No standings.

Does everyone get a trophy, too?

Wonder what the players think of that.

Oh yeah, players don't matter in this.

The big 5 are doing this for the kids. Maybe it is cheaper to not give trophys, keep scores, pay refs..or not allow any competition. But hey the upside is your kid plays for fcd pink who is in the league and you can tell people. They will have to charge a little more..because the wackadoodles will be lined up and that means it's worth it.
