02 State Cup Bets?

I'm gonna go with Solar Naizer and Sparta in the finals. Go Solar, play for #KG23Strong!

Hard not to see Solar Hopkins 02G taking this field with relative ease - playing Sparta will likely be their only challenging match.. Nazier is a good team for sure, but Hop's team is loaded.

Tough call but I will Go Sparta!!

If Solar Hopkins uses any of their ECNL girls, especially those on national team, they'll be tough to beat.

agreed.. In fact, now that I look at the rankings, this Solar team (Hopkins) isn't even his Compostite team (which is ranked 3rd). So you have top 4 of 5 from Solar with Sparta in 4th - of course those rankings are still blended with last years, points wise. Should be assured to have plenty of Solar teams competing. Should be some great soccer for sure.

Sparta and Naizer are the class of LHGCL D1 and Sparta's D is stout by D1 standards. I guess we'll get to see the gap between ECNL and D1 in the Composite era. Brackets A - C should be Naizer, Sparta and Hopkins, respectively. Bracket D is tougher as Sting and FCD are fairly even. I'll hedge and go with Sting.

Would like to see something other than an all-Solar final but that may be a long shot given the way the brackets shook out.

The big question is if anyone knows who is Solar Hopkins? Is it there anyone who knows who is actually showing up to play under the Solar Hopkins name? Is it the Solar Hopkins Composite or is it the ECNL team stacked with National team players? If you can answer that then we will know the answer. If it is their composite I am going with Solar Nazier VS Sparta.

That's a whole other topic on its on. It will be thru state cup trying to figure that out..

No. No one knows. If you own a Solar jersey, there is a good chance that you are on his roster.......even if you've never met him.

One thing that would be for sure after watching some of a Saturday Sparta game their parents definitely our number 1 for poor sportsmanship.

Pretty funny how Solar ECNL does not have one game during the two weeks of State Cup, while every other local ECNL team does. Not sure if its just a coincidence or some funny business going on. They are the only teams that were able to stack with those ECNL players. Others had to use what they could get in Composite or other D1 or D2 players. Doesn't seem to fair for those other clubs. Just my opinion!!

Not sure what's so funny!  Solar ECNL played yesterday in Round Rock at 11:00 a.m. Ask me how I know.

well i apologize. I didn't see that. So the players that played in state cup at 12:00 pm played in an ECNL game in Round Rock at 11am? Because I watched hopkins play on Saturday and they had some of their amazing players.

No what you said was Solar ECNL did not have one game during State Cup and I corrected that. On Saturday yes, some ECNL players that were rostered to the National League Roster showed up and played on Saturday. Hence the NL - National League in the team name, the team that registered for State Cup. Those players in which you are speaking did not play yesterday against the Texans because they were playing an ECNL game in Round Rock.

So what you could say is Hopkins had his Composite girls guest play with his National League team but that wouldn't be true either because they too were rostered to the National League team roster.

Additionally, Solar was/is not the only team that has dual rostered players.

Makes sense. I guess Hopkins will have the big guns out for next weeks semi. You know when I played none of this borrowing players nonsense existed. You played with who you had on your roster. In my opinion no club should be allowed to use any other player then who's on the roster. If I am not mistaken Hopkins has already qualified for regionals. So when they win and possibly against another solar team they would of knocked out another north Texas team from having the opportunity to play in final and qualifying for regionals. . Nazier is beatable and so is Hopkins without the studs they have for state cup as you could see in the score from yesterday's Texans game.

If Hopkins has already qualified for Regionals and they make it to State Cup Finals - the team they play in the Finals will go at NTX State Cup. If both teams in the State Cup Finals have already qualified for Regionals then the team that finishes 3rd will qualify.

Ok thats cool. I guess what I am saying, is there could be two other teams in the finals that have not qualified yet and that would give another team the opportunity to compete at Regionals. At this moment that is not the case. Its the rules and I understand that but it just doesn't make sense to me for a team that has already qualified for regionals to be able to compete in state cup. Kind of pointless in my opinion.

Let me see if I can try to explain this. Hopkins 03 team last year qualified for National League. Because of the whole age pure thing, some of those players moved to 03 ECNL, some to 02 ECNL and some to his Composite team. We still had qualified and accepted the National League invitation and had to participate, but then the injury bug hit and the team lost 7 starters due to ACL, other knee injuries and concussions. At that point in order to be competitive in National League we had to add players to the roster which was then comprised of both ECNL players (some on the team last year and some not) and Composite players (some on the team last year and some not). The team had to finish 4th to be able to return to National League this Fall and we ended up finishing 6th. The only way back into National League was through State Cup and then Regional's which is why we registered for State Cup. You have to return 9 players from your previous team or club in order to remain eligible for National League (meaning we could not use players that were on the team last year that went to other clubs). Therefore all of the remaining players from last years team with the exception of the 2 03's and the 4 that were rostered to Jimmy Fagen's team remained on the roster for National League. We player passed those players for National League but you CANNOT player pass for State Cup. So the National League team is the team playing in State Cup. Not using borrowed players even though I can see why you would consider them that but those players played with the team in National League and are officially on the roster. They WERE NOT added to the roster just to play in State Cup.

I hope this explains the confusion. And as far as I know the team has not already qualified for Regional's as someone said earlier. If that's the case, then the State Cup runner up if we should win it will get a bye into Regionals.

Lordus - If I remember correctly, even though a team has already qualified for Regionals or even Nationals, they still have to compete at State Cup & Regionals. This was the rules several years ago, so may have changed since then, doubt it though. This way, the State organisations still get your entry fee for State Cup

Well that makes total sense. Two really good games today. Believe it or not the Sting Royal team hung with Hopkins for awhile then the ballers stepped it up and scored 2 quick ones in second half. I think at one point it was 1-1. The other game was a good one as well. STting for sure dominated the entire game and scored 2 nice goals. Tomorrow's game will be a great final. Wow, Solar beats Sting twice in regular season, 3-1 and 4 nil. I'm a little surprised but congrats to Flanny. My DD has a friend on that team so go Sting! 'Merica!

Tactical move on Solar part to beef up and take over Solar NL team.  Good bet that came from the Top down... as Solar NL had embarrassing results at NL events incl. Disney.

They are bringing in more ECNL players including the 2 GNT pool players that did not participate at NL events and associated coaches that have success at that level.

The move ensures a competive team for a run into Regionals/Nationals.
