Being coached by Tatu is not for every player or their family.  For those players that love him, they flourish under his tutelage and respect him.  For those players that do not respond to his coaching style, they identify an option that better suits their needs.  Fortunately, NTX is inundated with a variety of options for clubs, coach/es, and level of play/competition to meet the needs of the various types of soccer athletes out there.

I for one wish those that seek another team/club/coach option continued success in their future endeavors rather than speak out against the departing coach/club/team. But again, that's my choice.... I do wish each and every departing player and their family happiness and joy!

Im pretty sure those seaking other options will be happy but to not inform others about the verbal abuse and berating of young women would be in just itself. Consumers need to be informed about exactly what they are getting into before having to endure the horror. it's a shame that a club that works specially with young women allow for these actions by a coach. If anyone of us were to speak to women in the work place or treat them the way he has would be fired on the spot, but it's okay to subject young ladies to it. Oh that's right, it's a coaching style not for everyone. Lol.

Think of it this way, these coaches are teaching your dd's to play soccer, much in the same way Mr. Smith teaches them biology or algebra. Would any of you allow Mr. Smith to speak to your dds that way at school. Then why is it allowed in our dd's sports. Because he gets results. Laughable!

At the risk of keeping this silliness going. The College and/or High School analogy is a good one. Sweet, gentle and loving kindness wrapped in Cotillion levels of politeness are not particularly common traits in Basketball, Football and Baseball at High School and College levels (Men or Women). So if that's an expectation you have then by all means shop around the coaches and  Schools until you find that.

Sting lost several players to DA, which was an inevitable part of the decision to forego DA this year. If ECNL was our focus as a family then Tatu would be one of our top choices. He's not coaching the parents or pandering to their sensibilities. The kids earn his respect not his politeness and he earns there's. That's not necessarily a bad thing and it's not for everybody.

Don't you think that a good coach would be able to earn the respect of the players without berating and demeaning comments to the girls. I completely disagree with your assessment that it is okay to verbally abuse players for any reason.

It's a shame that you are condoning these actions from a figure of authority.

So you're saying that the majority of college coaches are mean, angry, and demeaning? yeah ok.

Hey Zizou.  For the sake of full disclosure, is this the 5th consecutive year that you and your DD have changed clubs and teams, or only the 5th time in the past 6 years?

Andromeda 5 seasons , Sting 3 seasons , Solar 2 seasons. Remember pure age and DA made for two years where most players made change. Full disclosure.

OK.  So 4th club/team in 5 years at least, since it went Sting->Solar->Sting->whichever DA you are headed to now.  Seem to remember her name popping up on a Texans ECNL roster somewhere in between the 2 stints at Sting, but maybe I'm mistaken.  Also, most players didn't switch clubs as a result of AP and DA, mainly the disgruntled ones.

Ok, so Zizou doesn't like Tatu's coaching style. Others are more tolerant of it. Got it. I agree his style doesn't sound great, especially for young girls. I think it's also helpful to think about the differences in coaching girls vs. boys. As a male, I responded pretty well to hard-nosed coaches. This video interview with legendary UNC's women's coach, Anson Dorrance, was really helpful to me in thinking about the best way to support my DD in athletics. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't already seen it.

Constantly berating, demeaning, and belittling players is hardly considered coaching. Great video Pro Dallas! I like your style.

I agree with Zizou, you need to be an educated consumer.

My '92 was coached by Tatu at U11, U12 and U13, (yes I've been around since the Bill Kinder days lol) and my '00/'99 was also coached by Tatu... They both loved him.

With 21 national championships, and plenty of USWNT and pro players developed, it seems impossible to disagree with Dorrance's approach.

SoccerMatador only came out because he saw a "Bull" chitter in Fireman. No experience with Tatu yet he's seen it all first hand.

Obviously you had a bad...but real experience unlike the Fireman.

I know 3 girls that played for Tatu. 2 loved him and 1 said she quit because of him.

There's 4 or 5 (probably more) top coaches that "could" fit in this category. Love em or hate em!

How about 7 or 8 girls just in the pass season. This is unheard of! At least I felt that there was something really wrong. Maybe this is a common occurrence for you but my experience this pass season with this bully cannot be common.

Yes I will feel much safer if no other young lady has to deal with these bully tactics ever again.
