Has anyone seen this pre game dance. Legend has it that the ritual pays homage to the soccer gods with hopes that the refs will not catch them committing atrocities on the field.

It has in the past but they’ve had to use new tactics recently because the refs are on to them. Now they are deploying loud and obnoxious spectators throughout the stands to draw the refs attention away from the carnage on the field.

I was confused. Someone told me Wakeland was playing at McKinney Stadium tonight, but the stadium sign says there is an MMA match tonight.

All makes sense now.

Please be aware that I have received reports that disciples of the Kat Webb White Walker School of Soccer have been spotted near the McKinney stadium.

Hopefully Lovejoy is bringing in the medics and some extra victims subs for the game tonight.

This just in . . .

Old news.

While Wakeland won State LAST YEAR, they couldn't even win their own District this year.

^^^^Holy Geez.  Here we go again with the parents that don't know anything about soccer.  ^^^^^

Wakeland has earned the right to play the way they do.  The refs respect the physicality they bring, even if a few kids get hurt along the way, there is no reason to slow down the game.

As my little butt pirate said above the haters are gonna hate!

I've heard imitation (albeit half-assed in this case) is the highest form of flattery dottie  Cool

To address the Wakeland malarkey ...

My kid is on the WHS sideline most games and I've been to a handful of their matches the past couple of seasons.  While I can't defend nor speak to the 'spectators' accusation, the kids are a purty solid bunch with a no nonsense coach from what I've seen ... Nary a red card this season that we can recall.

But per the usual ... the haters are gonna hate.   I love you

I must add that a yellow card is usually tactical or just physical play. Nary a game went by without one of these but that’s the game. Besides refs don’t give out red cards anyway so move on.

Looks like a fun one coming up in Round 3 on Friday!  A few club teammates squaring off against each other.

I know nothing about Wakeland or HP. We played both Coppell & Southlake. I think Southlake will win convincingly. Know nothing about Pearce other than where they’re located and their record. I’ve seen Mansfield, solid team. Southlake does a lot of things really well. They spread the field, they move the ball really well, they move without the ball really well, they’re team speed is very good and they have multiple finishers.

Southlake was my pick to win 6A State before the season started and I'm sticking with it. Frankly was surprised to see them have a couple of hiccups during district. They were clearly the best team I saw play this year. Solid and talented in every third of the field. Haven't seen Coppell, but heard very good things through the grapevine, and you don't go undefeated in that district without being a legit team.

Mansfield and Pearce have both been flying under the radar. Mansfield been very good for a couple of years now (lost in Regional Semis to Marcus last year). Pearce struggled pre-season against some pretty good teams, but they plowed through their district (albeit a fairly weak district) and knocked out a pretty good Guyer team last night. On paper, I'd give the advantage to Mansfield, but you never know.

IMO, Wakeland, HP, Grapevine, and Frisco Independence are a step above the others in 5A this year, and all are on par with the 6A teams mentioned above. Pretty sure there's some recent history between Wakeland and HP too. Isn't this the 3rd or 4th year in a row they've met in the playoffs on the girl's side? I know Wakeland knocked HP out last year and I think HP knocked out Wakeland the year before - both on the way to State titles I believe?

Don't sleep on Allen or Rockwall Heath in 6A Region II either, and Midlo Heritage in 4A (only team to beat Coppell so far this year).

I’m familiar with Grapevine, they can play for sure.

Any idea where Coppell vs Southlake Reg Qtr is being played?

Wakeland fan's are some of the quietest fans in the area. I have tried to get them loud but to no effect. They are not a physical team by nature so I am a little confused by what carnage you are referring to.
