'02 Girls FBR Rankings - 4/27/11
'02 Girls FBR Rankings - 4/27/11
Q: How does a team's points change if they did not play in the past week?
A: Primary reason is that FBR SoS calculation is dynamic. If any of a team's opponents or their opponents' opponents played a game in the past week, those results are folded into the SoS calcuation and thus their ranking point total may change. Secondary reason is that points calculated for each of the individual ranking criteria in FBR are calculated as a ratio of a team's performance in that category compared to the team that performed best in that category. So, if the #1 team in that category played in the past week and their totals in that category have changed, everyone else's points will change slightly.
Also, as I've gotten more results in, I've reassessed the placement of all of the teams in the ranking tiers which led to a couple of the Arlington PAL teams (Crossroads and Texas Lightning) being relegated to a lower ranking tier. This impacted the other Arlington PAL teams in a negative manner, so for example, you see that FWU actually dropped a bit, even though they had some decent results in Lightning Cup last weekend.
Hope that pre-empts some of the questions, but still feel free to fire away.

They could go after top teams like DT Glotz, DT South, Solar Dynamo, Fever with the gift that they would be Stings top 02 team and get their ENCL slot when the time comes. That could be a pretty good draw for the parents of these teams since all the teams listed above are either #2 team in that club or their club(Fever) doesn't have access to ENCL. Sting WILL make move....its just a matter of time. I'm sure some coaches like Glotz and Stark might not leave since they seem to be pretty loyal to their organizations, but you never know what the parents would do if the opportunity arose.
And to answer your question about what happened.....when Webb left Sting a couple of seasons ago she took her top teams and Sting basically had to start over with this age group.

I think it has to do with strength of schedule. You guys were in D3...Solar was in D2.

Didn't you guys also lose to Solar Barnes in the same tourney that youbeat them in. So you actually went 1-1 against them in that tourney!

You guys and Solar are only 1.4 points apart in the poll....if you tied them than it looks like he has you guys about equal!

It does....but I believe that Gophers rankings are over a period of time, so one big victory isn't going to shoot you up the poll....but consistency will! For instance Defeeters tied Webb, but Defeeters are not automatically equal in ranking because they have lost a lot. I think your win show that your girls have the potential and are on the right track.

BWGophers...If I am wiping the tar out of DOTS in Words with Friends with a 3-0 lead, not sure by how many points....does that make me great?
DOTS has 2 games with me right now and little do they know that I am about to flip my cap around and go over the top on that arse!!!
Shout out to Nukem!

Current results in FBR...
LP McDermott:
Jan. Tourney:
Solar Stavrou: 0-11 Loss
DT North Rangel: 0-10 Loss
FCD Renfro: 0-5 Loss
SDL:
FCD Ptak: 3-1 W
Aces Red: 4-1 W
FCD Kim: 1-3 L
Texas Blitz: 7-0 W
Solar Stark: 1-1 D
Mustangs: 0-1 L
TFC Sedeh: 6-2 W
Solar East Sanchez: 3-1 W
Solar Stark:
Jan. Tourney:
Solar Dynamo: 0-9 Loss
SRSA Webb '02: 0-7 Loss
Sting Shephard: 1-6 Loss
SDL:
Juve Black '03: 0-4 L
FCD Ptak: No Score Reported
Bandits: No Score Reported
FCD Kim: 1-2 L
LP McDermott: 1-1 D
Texas Blitz: No Score Reported
Mustangs: 3-6 L
TFC Sedeh: No Score Reported
Now, the 5 teams that LP McDermott beat in SDL (FCD Ptak, Aces Red, Tx Blitz, TFC Sedeh, Solar East) currently have a combined W-L-D record of 1-21-2 for scores reported to FBR... not exactly a Murder's Row. Stark actually played 3 of these teams, but scores were not reported for those games, and their 4th unreported score was against a Bandits team that is 0-3-1 in FBR. This is actually a bit of a problem... score reporting for SDL D3 was VERY spotty this spring. LP McDermott was one of the few teams that regularly reported their scores.
If you look at the common results that we do have scores for, LP McDermott and Solar Stark look pretty comparable...
Teams tied Head-to-Head.
Both teams got beat up equally as bad by D1/D2 competition in Jan. tourney.
Both teams lost to FCD Kim and Mustangs. LP was 1GF/4GA in those games. Stark was 4GF/8GA in those games.
So, even though LP has 5 wins compared to 0 wins for Stark, LP's 5 wins are all against very weak opponents, and this gives them a much lower SoS than Stark because none of Stark's weak opponent games have scores reported, so I can't count them.
If I can get those scores and add them in, Starks SoS will drop significantly, but then again, their W-L record would also likely improve. They may actually be 4-6-1 vs. LP's 5-5-1, but I don't know. Depending on the exact results of those games, they could move up, stay roughly the same, or drop compared to LP. Have to have the data to know for sure.
However, based on the head-to-head and other common opponent results that we do have in FBR, I'd say LP and Stark should be ranked very close to one another right now, which they are.
If someone can get me the missing results, I'll gladly update the database and the rankings.
