Could someone explain how many teams make LH? And how the tournament works?

Well, a basic overview from coming from academy to LH.

30 teams make LH, 20 in Div I, 10 in Div II.

The tournament to qualify is broken in to two stages. First they seed and bracket all the teams (think lots of brackets of 4) and they play a round robin in their bracket. Bracket winners qualify. Remaining teams get realigned and fill the remaining spots stage 2.

The most athletic/technical teams stay on top and the beefeaters knock the slow developers into the Plano abyss and fill up D3.
