Nope, it was a cross wind but didn't affect too much. To be honest I don't think either goalkeeper made a 'save' as such. There were about 3 shots each by both teams across the whole game that all hit the side netting but other than the well-taken goal there wasn't much action outside of the middle third. Both defenses played well so there wasn't much opportunity or space to create much offensively. I think both teams would have benefitted from the game being played on the Oak Grove fields as they are larger.

Gotta give a shoutout to Solar Kennington. Just heard they beat DT North Manchester 3-0 last weekend. That is a very nice win!

So Kennington played with several 03s ... not just a couple ... and they spent a lot of time on the field. Interesting that he couldn't play straight up 04s.

Yes, DTN was scheduled to play Solar '04 but of the 13 on Solar bench 6 where from his '03 team. During the game Solar had at least 4 of their top '03 players on the field at all time. At one point all 6 '03(when 2 of the goals where scored) where playing. DTN put up a good fight but just couldn't get past Solar '03 goalie (which we all know is one of the best). Possession was 50/50 for both teams.

If I remember correctly all 3 goals from Solar where from '03 players. There may have been 1 from an '04 but I know 2 for sure where from his top '03 forwards.

Also DTN was not playing their normal formation. Coaches where moving players trying out different play patterns. To them this wasn't a game that counted in their books as Solar wasn't playing with their team.

Only thing that bothered me as a parent was how the '04 players where benched over '03 players. That was the '04s game and those 7 girls should have been the ones playing the whole game. The right thing to have done was ask DTN to play 7v7 if you didn't have a full roster.

Yea, if half of the team was 03s, this is certainly a case where the game should be ignored in FBR.

It really sounds like this was an 03 team with some 04 players.

You guys had a choice, you could of played in an 04 league and it wouldn't be an issue. Don't hate on Gophers because the rest of the "04"" teams appreciate his hard work. Yes, We choice to play '03s and have done well playing them. We always like an exciting game with good teams.

I will say our coaches (thanks dads- our coach not at the game) tried different formations and plays. They moved players to positions they where not used to or comfortable playing. For DTN it was a great game for use to play around positions and learn new playing tactics. The girls have been working on new skills during practice and this was the game we tried those skills out.

As a parent that has played for both teams it was fun. Dd & I liked catching up with her old team mates & parents.

ETA: I just want to state I have never hated on Gophers FBR for either my dd's age brackets. I appreciate his hard work because it has helped me make decisions on team moves.

I don't think ANYONE is talking about why they won or lost. It is more of trying to see where the teams are in relation to each other in the "04" age group.

This is clearly not the case if they are using half 03s in the game. Yes they won, yes DTN lost... but no you can't use this game to rank the two vs. each other.

I don't recall solar kenn 03's being that amazing of a team with possible the 04 team being stronger (other than that amzing keeper). It seems I do remeber tying the 04 team with the 03 players and the keeper playing a year or so ago. That was metioned as a factor in the game a brought down cries of "excuse maker". Moving girls around to different position? Been there, done that, but it's youth soccer get used to it. Learned a new skill? What did he teach them the Mambo? They should be using all their skills in every game. You can't go into a game with a pre planned use of a skill. It sucks I know but put your big boy pants on and suck it up. You guys were soundly beat by solar kenn. Great job to king kenny lost a couple of his top player and still kept it together and improving. I think you guys are a better team and hopefully you get to play them again so you can prove it but for now it's the kings day

I don't remember the instance, but any game between "04s" that is using "03s" is not an accurate depiction of the "04" team. I think in the game you were talking about, if I'm not mistaken, was with Solar using only an 03 goalie. Still, if she is their top goalie, that can make a big difference and again, is not a true example of the 04 team. That being said, it is not quite as bad as Solar using half the entire team 03s.

If I remember correctly a younger team playing up in age has to play age pure. There was a big stink about this last spring with '03 SRSA using '02 players from SRSA at times.I remember Kat getting a lot of heat due to her breaking the rules esp when playing in the top bracket.

Not sure how this plays out with SDL having no gold/silver brackets anymore due to lack of teams per age group.

So my stance is if your an '04 (or any age for that matter) playing up you shouldn't be using older players. It doesn't show your teams true talent or their true skills. This goes for any team no one is dismissed from this.

actually you are mistaken it was more that just the keeper although she was the biggest factor. Now really I could care less about the FBR or rankings but you can't just take games out when things don't go their way. Nothing to see there. It was an 03 league and Kenny was certianly withing his rights (you guys are acting like he brought some SRSA girls). Rosey pants should have won that one even if king kenny brought his whole 03 team but he didn't. Don't really know why, off game, solar is a little better than I thought or a combo of the two? But either way, the game stands and was withing the rules. Ladies and gentelmen there's a new sheriff in town and his name is King Kenny . Will anybody step up to bring him down or will he finish at the top again.

I will say any team using older players will never be a true representation of either team. If '04 Solar was out their with their players only and beat us then I would bow down to them. At this time I won't because when you don't follow the rules it's not fair game. That is like New York Giants going against UT Longhorns this season. Not a fair match. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

Okay, yes you are mistaken there is no such rule. But I like the invention of such a rule when it happens to you. You guys beat teams that are better than his 03 team before so not really sure what the problem was. Maybe you just let the fact that there were 03's there get inside you head. That is a game I expect you guys to win so next time come prepared. That's the weight of being at the top. Every game teams are pumped to take their shot at you bringing everything they have including guest players.
