Can someone help with a ballpark cost for our upcoming first season of select soccer? We're curious how much the price varies with different clubs.

2300 to 2800 (plus uniforms) for some of the bigger clubs I think.

Plus $100 to $400/family that you might have generate via various fundraisers to cover extra tournaments, indoor practice field fees, or other expenses not included in the fee.

Good God! Why does it cost so much? Now I know why most parents go crazy over U10 girl soccer. If it cost that much it better be good soccer watch every weekend.

It is a business and the existing demand will support the current prices.

You can safely add 150 bucks for cleats and 600 bucks for 1 on 1 training if she really gets into it

You can be pretty safe if you expect $2300-$2800 from some of the largest clubs, then $300-$450 for a uni. So your up to $2700-$3200 and then out of town tourneys are extra. We payed in the top range and the tourneys/food were paid for the girls so it fit in line with others....I'm sure cheaper and fourthfortwo value are out there but with a decent tourney schedule, expect to be $4000-$5000. Just my .02

Why? Because we have a coach-driven program here in NTX. But, it takes two to tango. So, as long as people will pay $3k to be on the 8th team in a club's age group, nothing will change. It's all about the bumper sticker.

Look at the current U10 group. Over 70 academy teams preparing to go "select". More than 1000 kids. Nothing "select" about it.

We "select" who to give our vacation fund money to each year Smile Sorry kids, we can't go to Disney World anymore...Lucas plays select soccer now. lol

The other things to factor in is gas, especially for those that live a good bit outside the metroplex, food, snacks, energy drinks, spirit wear for the parents, etc...

Ok, I better stop or I might start really adding this stuff up and decide my dd can go back to rec. Smile

Does each team cover the coaches expenses typically for Travel? Like hotel, gas, food...etc

To those of you who have been through this "select" process, where does all the money go? To pay the coach or some fat cats at the clubs? With so much money to go around, maybe it take the fun out of soccer for most of these kids. I can feel the pressure build up before every game on the sideline for the parents. I just hope most coaches try to keep it fun for these girls. After all they are 10 year old kids. They need to enjoy their childhood while it lasts. Maybe there is a better way beside this "select" thing. I'm just dreaming, I know.

Some teams/clubs will publish budgets for you which will describe in loose detail where the money is going. Some teams will not publish budgets and you will be left speculating where the money is going.
