Looks like a good tourney! Wonder why FCD Barnes is in Bronze? I would think they should be switched with FCPremier in silver, otherwise I think it looks good!

It is just four games. No playoffs or anything.

If you are looking for medals and trophies, King TUT isn't the place to get them, 'cause there won't be any. Four game "friendly" format. Same goes for the Michael Brown tourney sponsored by FC Dallas in February.

I had no idea,...Thanks for info..and to better understand teams only play in this because of seeding?

That . . . or maybe it's to get a guarantee of 4 solid, competitive preseason/pre-QT games on some kick-ass fields. Nah, that can't be it. WHERE'S MY TROPHY DAMMIT!?!?!?!

When the TUT was started by the Magic SC, Puma was the only game in town. The feeling was another venue closer to Dallas would be nice. Also, remember this was pre-Academy and when tryouts actually lasted at least the first week of July, so other than a scrimmage or two, these tourneys were typically the first time a coach had a chance to play with his 'new' full side.
More than a few coaches liked the idea of a guaranteed 4 games with their new side rather than worry about a trophy. Of course, plenty of parents still can't understand the concept.

Yes, the friendlies format allows Tut to put 5 teams together who are all close to level. The idea is that your team will have 4 challenging games instead of having one challenging game and two easy games as is usually the case in a tourney that plays all the way to quarters, semis and a final. Those type tourneys put an A, B, C, D team in each of brackets. So at Tut, the 5 toughest teams are in Platinum A, the next five are in Platinum B, and so on.

How does Tut rank the teams to get brackets?

I think the brackets are pretty well done actually....I'm pretty confident that Sting Parker will show well.
I think Platinum B is very competitive overall-Both Andro teams + Sting Parker + Saints are all pretty good teams-although haven't seen Liverpool Thompson play with the big teams the last 6 months.
Will also be interested to see revamped D'Feeters and revamped FCD Renfro (or I guess FCD blue now) in Platinum A...we will learn a lot about them this weekend.

Charmel wrote:...I was just curious how TUT decided their brackets....
When you register to play in King Tut, the team chooses your level of competition.
3 levels were provided to pick from:
- most competitive
- competitive
- least competitive
Your coach/TM determined which level he/she wanted you to compete at and then the tournament hosts divide from there.
I can only assume the following based on numbers:
- most competitive requests received Platinum (2 brackets)
- competitive requests received Gold and Silver (2 brackets)
- least competitive requests received Bronze (2 brackets)

Know a couple of dads that moved over to Feet, definetely added some horses, but alot of newness to overcome so not sure one weekend this close to signing is going to show alot. Heard the same with Renfro but these teams should do well in Lake Highlands over the course of the year. Great bracket, should be lots of tough battles in the heat!

I'll give it a shot. These brackets are very close...only thing I would change is put Mustangs Navy in Gold Bracket and move Cosmos Black to Silver.
Plat A( 3-5 are a toss up)
1. DT Higg
2. Solar Dynamo
3. Defeeters
4. Sting Rez
5. FCD Blue
Plat B( very close also..any of these teams could win bracket)
1. Andro
2. Sting Central Parker
3. Saints
4. Andromeda Red
5. LP Thompson
Gold
1. Celtic
2. LP Daglish(Mustangs Navy just beat LP Daglish in tourny)
3. FCD West
4. Sting East
5. Cosmos Black
Silver
1. Solar Stark
2. Mustangs Navy
3. TFC 02
4. FC Premier
5. Stun Central
I didn't do Bronze because I don't know any of these teams.
