Plano premier Tournament

Does anyone have info on the Plano Premiere tournament and the brackets?

We're in the tournament, and I haven't seen one bit of feedback from them... I'm curious as well. Has anyone been through the placement tournament before and can share details of previous years?

In past three years, games have been at Russell Creek and Carpenter. We usually played three games, on Saturday and Sunday. Never had the third game cancelled- probably because there are second and third place teams qualifying for spots, all games had to be played to determine the qualifying teams.

How does this work? 2 divisions? Win your pool and you are 1, everyone else is 2? No idea so hoping someone can fill in my many blanks. Thanks

According to what our team manager said, they will have 15 teams in Division 1 this year. So assuming that is the case, the 1st & 2nd place teams in each bracket are in, & the top 3 3rd place teams.

From the tournament director:

Top 2 teams in each bracket plus 5 wildcards advance to Division 1.

That looks to me like 17 teams.

Plus the teams that got a bye into Div 1. I think there are like three teams that recieved byes from the Highland Qualification

I believe there are two teams that received a bye from their performance in Lake Highlands QT... The others that were close are registered with Arlington. Leaves 19 teams in Division 1. 18 game season.

Would someone please like to say who the two teams are that got a bye...

I might be wrong, but I really don't think that U11 teams get a bye into D1 simply for having played in the LH QT. The performance in QT might influence the seeding by PYSA, however.

In older age groups, teams leaving LH have gotten a bye into D1. But this has not applied to U11.

That's why I was asking who got the byes. I didn't think there were byes either for U11.

There are two teams that were a tie-breaker away from qualifying for Lake Highlands and are not registered for Arlington. Sting Cuevas and Liverpool Keegan (Jones). The other teams that finished with 8 points on the second weekend were Texans Red (D3 qualified) FWFC and LP Rush. FWFC and LP Rush are registered for Arlington. While I haven't found a comprehensive listing for PPL-registered teams, I conclude these two teams have received byes. Also, there will be 17 teams advance to division 1 from the placement tournament and there have been 19 teams in division 1 in years past.

Unless, of course, Sting Cuevas and LP Keegan have decided to give up competitive soccer...

Does anyone know which pts total they use? the pts total PPL has listed in blue which differs from the traditional point system in other tourneys... this would change the order for some 2nd and 3rd place teams.

they use the same point totals as most tournaments in this area: 6/3/0 (win, tie, loss), a bonus point for a shut out, one point additional for each goal scored up to a max of three per game. The software they use doesn't necessarily rank teams in the correct order. I don't remember if "NASL" is the same as the points used in this tournament- you can google it to find out.

If this is the case, then that changes one bracket winner. It doesn't matter either way I guess as both teams are in.

The standings posted on the pysa website did not take into account some of the tie breakers that were used. The last bracket had all 4 teams tied, but the results were actually listed in reverse order. The tie breaker was goals scored, not goals against.

Here are the D1 teams sans the 2 with byes ranked purely on points from the placement tournament with GF & GA included. Should be an interesting season with Stark the team to beat:

Anyone have any input or opinions on the PPL D1 teams? Predicted finish? Who's improved more from last year? Dark horse?

Everyone i've talked to who's been through Plano a few times says every year there will be 4-5 strong teams, and then there will be everyone else.
