For my daughter to have fun! The girls aren't the ones complaining about the size of the field or the amount of refs offered. She has never once said anything about the condition or size of the field. Has she complained about refs... yes. Step back and gain perspective on what is happening!!! I agree, it's about fun for my daughter. Too often we, as adults, decide to talk "soccer" from our perspective while our kids are within earshot. Then we hear them say something we wouldn't expect about a player, a team, a ref or a coach. Otherwise, it's all about playing the game. My little player just wants to be on the field playing the game, regardless of field size, field condition, refs, coaches, parents and even sometimes weather. We want the best competition for our kids so they grow with the game and the players around them, but if we take the fun away, we loose them to the "burn out" monster. The beauty here is, it all lies in the parents hands. If your kiddo is leading you to the field everyday for practice and games, then you have a kiddo that loves to be a player - however, if you're having to drag your kiddo to practice or games - regardless of weather - then your kiddo will be playing a different sport when they get older, no matter how good they are at soccer. It's our job as parents to keep the balance and shield our kids from the parental chatter that goes on around soccer, winning and the logistics of winning. At this age they should never have the ability to peak behind the curtain cause then the magic (and fun) of the game goes away.

Maybe I should have my coffee before I post.....What the heck, I cant stand reading about how all we want is for our DD to have fun with her friends!!!! I hope we never play on your team!!! My DD doesn't play academy soccer for "fun" and skipping around the soccer field with her friends and kick the ball every once in while! If I'm paying a coach, paying for a league and refs, traveling 20+ miles for games, using my vacation time to leave early to make practices,,,,,,,,,wooosaaahhhhh

People like you are incredible and I wouldn't want someone like you on our team so I guess we're both better off. And yes, you shouldn't post garbage like this before you've had your morning coffee.
Maybe not incredible cheers

I am going to put a little truth in with all the sunshine. It is important that my DD enjoys and loves soccer. Playing with her friends is a great bonus. It is important that her effort and work match my money output. My commitment to her sport cannot exceed her own. Now with all of whats being said, it doesn't match what I have seen from your teams. I have seen teams packing the back playing no offense, I have seen kids affraid to play their way out of trouble and just kicking the ball. All to the rampant cheers of ethusiastic parents. You all say just for fun and happines and sunshine but what I see from you teams, sidelines, and coaches is exactly what Nocrying is saying.

Since Solar Kenn seems to be dodging the competition I'm not sure where they fall but unless they have fallen apart should be able to compete in TGPL. Plus I'm all for 11v11 next season in 04 TGPL.

If I had to pick teams for Spring TGPL with all of the top 20 playing and assuming 10 teams per division it would look like this:

Note, I know this will not happen as many of these teams have coach conflicts that make this tough. Also, there are teams in silver that you could easily argue for Gold but it's getting tougher to crack that top 10.

(Not listed in any order)

Gold
RASE
Dalglish
DT South
Lady Aztecs
LP Keegan
DT Scott
Fever Red
Tx Spirit
Sting Piper
Sting Goodman

Silver
Solar Kennington
DT Manchester North
DT Deleon
LP Barnes
TX Spirit North
Odyssey
GSSC Thunder
Sting Searls
LP Owen
Sting Scarfone

If you’re going to have LP Owen and TX Spirit North on your Silver list you should add Sting Cuevas given they are second in EAL (two point behind TX Spirit North) and won over Owen twice this weekend.

i totally agree. Sting Cuevas has proven to be better than LP Owen in league play and tourney play. They have LP Owen's number and are able to stop their star forward, which results in wins!

Good weekend for TGPL teams. Sting Piper wins the Hurst Turkeyshoot. Dalglish, Sting Scarfone, and Texas Spirit 1-3 in the Thanksgiving Shootout. Fever Red wins the U90C League Challenge Cup.

Kudos to DT Scott 04s for winning the 03 White division of the DT Fall Festival

'04 forum has been quiet lately so I might as well get some conversation going..

So you believe Sting Cuevas has proven to be in TGPL Silver, who have y'all played is the question? I would give the spot to Allen Elite. Let's say the Silver list above stay that way. You have to look at your team and say "How would we fair against the rest". Yes, we beat LP Owen, but who else. EAL in my opinion was "water down" - (no disrespect to all the teams that played in EAL).

I believe Coaches would like to see where their team maybe when it come to playing better competition, but you don't jump in the deep end of the pool before you know how to swim. Then again I maybe missing something, maybe Sting Cuevas is ready and knows how to swim. Just my thoughts.

As a parent that had my DD play all of these teams in the EAL I would say Spirit North belongs, LP Owen belongs, but Sting Cuevas does not belong. We barely lost to them and we only won a game or two all season. Maybe Sting had an off day against us, but they were not in the same league as Spirit North or LP Owen.

NOticed that Sting Cuevas and LP Owen both played in the Arlington tournament this pass weekend. With Sting winning over Solar Gold Kovarik in the finals, while LP Owen lost to the Solar team 3-0 in bracket play. If you look at this then I would say Sting Cuevas should be ahead of LP Owen in TGPL. Just my thoughts.

Has anyone noticed while registering their team there is now 4 divisions - platinum, gold, silver and bronze?

There might me a division for all who think they belong... Laughing Very Happy

Having played against Cuevas earlier in the year and more recently in tournament play, we have noticed that Cuevas isn't the same team as earlier in the year. Whether its due to new/guest players, etc.., I wouldn't know.

It appears SDL will be top dog...

Just because SDL offers Platinum and D1,2,3 doesnt mean all the top teams will go there (good move on their part as the perception is there). I will say that it will benefit all to play int he same league, whatever that league may be. Although im sure we will have the same drama as the fall. Coach conficts etc.

Platinum qualifying tourney? Pretty cool

http://dynamicyouthsports.com/documents/SDL_Platinum_Div_QT_Flyer_Spring2013_Printable.pdf

Looks like Saturdays for D1,2,3 and Sundays for Platinum. Might get more teams doing wanting to do SDL Platinum if it was on Saturday as it wouldnt conlict with TGPL on Sunday if they chose to play in two leagues. Of course they would have to "Qualify" Very Happy

Also some of the U9 teams will want to do 11v11, guess they could play up if they play SDL.

Cuevas is mostly the same players as the start of the season but all of the pieces are starting to fit together. While some of the girls played together in spring they got a new coach this fall and started getting serious.

The girls did win the Arlington tournament this weekend. Coach Angel is a great coach that has a good pool of talent that is developing well.

Sting was getting better. They proved themselves in tourney play and against LP Owen. At the time, all Owen had was a forward w/ excellent footskills and a couple of girls that were decent in the middle. Their defense and goalie were subject at best. Have not seen them play recently, but I can assume (knowing the coach's history) that he has heavily recruited to make his team better. Sting doesn't usually have to recruit, and the team was/is solid on offense.

I can't believe you can say that Sting doesn't recruit. Maybe this particular team but the Sting in general is a recuiting machine just as any other club is.

All I can say is that I've never seen their coaches hanging around an indoor soccer arena or going to tournaments scouting players and recruiting from other teams. It might be just the three coaches that I have interacted with, but I have never seen a Sting coach "begging" for players by putting down their own team and telling parents that they "need" major help...just sayin'.
I am sure that they do recruit on here and through the current players, but I have, personally, never witnessed a Sting coach recruiting in this manner...

Sting coaches at least the ones we have played for don't do the recruitng themselves. They see a player they want and then send in their parent of choice to make contact with the player and their parent. They then make it known that Coach X would like your player to attend a practice to see if they would be fit for their team. But like I said this goes on in all clubs just depends it the coach is out there or the parents are doing the recuiting for the team.

wow...extreme much? you seem to be very well versed in taking comments out of context. so to clarify, in my experience, Sting does not ACTIVELY recruit in the same manner as some teams that I and friends have encountered.

Thank you soccermom004...that was my point entirely...there are ways to recruit and do it properly...not pirating teams and players. It has been my experience that Sting has not done that sort of recruiting. I would tend to think that there are too many Sting haters out there and LP homers to be able to maintain an unbiased opinion on the matter...btw, have a DD on each club!

Soccrnut,
I just wanted it known that Sting does recruit as do all clubs. By the way I have been associated with both clubs and one is not worse than the other.

wow...extreme much? you seem to be very well versed in taking comments out of context. so to clarify, in my experience, Sting does not ACTIVELY recruit in the same manner as some teams that I and friends have encountered.

Ah so they do recruit? Your contention is that they do it in a much classier way than all of the other clubs? Everybody recruits and the bigger more successful they are the more they are able to recruit. There are no right ways, no rules set up, no decorum. It is all in your mind. Clubs try to bring the best players they can into their club period.

As a Sting East Parent, none of our coaches actively recruit players from other teams. If someone is looking for a team for their daughter, they contact the Sting East Director and they put them in touch with the coaches. Our coach has actually posted on this forum looking for players, which I think is a great way to recruit when players are not knocking down your door. Now I will say I have seen Scarfone blatantly go up to teams after tournament games and recruit, but he is just a sleaze in my opinion, and can be an embarrassment to the other Sting coaches and organization.

It's all recruiting and bringing in players and for the most part parents do the recruiting for team. I will put it this way. Soccer is built on talent. Coaches don't make talent they can discover it and develop it to the best of their ability. The coaches that tells you he created the talent or can turn your kid into a player has just told you their first lie. Oh and the better the team the less they will have to recruit. Win alot, play well and parents will find their way there.

Probably one of the best posts ever on this forum. The truth is coaches don't make players great, the ALMIGHTY DOES. If a kid has natural talent, the coach matters not. If the kid is a daisy picker, Jose Mourinho cannot turn her into a player.

Good players like to play with other good players so they can win games and stomp people. The cycle will go on forever. The top teams get the better players and the bottom team fight to stay alive. It will not change much.
