But Rockwall does bring up a good point. How long can they sustain their #1 status over time? The 01 Kicks team sorta snuck on to the scene but this team is gonna have a target on their back right from the start. How does JM keep this team together and away from the "Big Bad Clubs" over an extended period of time?
We are all entitled to our opinions. So, I respect and can understand why you would say kicks are the top team as they won the PT Nov tourney. However, IMO, I would not say they are hands down the top team. They beat Texan Torres in the finals on Pks and Torres had to two goals called back in regulation. In addition, they tied a team, I believe Sting, in bracket play. Net, they did not dominate...but they did hands down play the best pure form of soccer IMO. Here is what I think is fair/balanced to say:
1) Coach JM is excellent and has done a great job with the girls.
2) The team is hands down a top team.
3) They seem to have a good group of parents.
4) They are special group of girls at this point and deserve all of the credit they receive.
5) We spend a lot of time on this thread talking about this team.

Looks they were talking about you guys here... Hope the drama is over, if not they are more than welcome to come check us out. I would be happy to provide our practice schedule.

Kicks 01 was a top 5 team as far back as at least U9 (can't speak for any farther back as I didn't start paying any attention to this stuff until my '01 moved to academy in U9...)
Don't think they snuck up on anyone in the '01's, and I doubt JM is going to have any problems keeping his '06's near the top all the way into select either.

when will your 06s play the Kicks?
When either league or tournament schedule dictate it. My 06s could care less about rankings than Spongbob passing his driving test.

BW has it right. The 01s were slugging it out with and as a top team since the beginning. JM has shown what he can do, even with all the big clubs trying to pick off players and pick him off.
There are a good number of siblings from the 01s on the 06 team. So the chance of the 06s getting picked off is even less than your normal situation.
How many parents in the 06 ranks can say they know the coach of their team currently will be taking that team into select. With JM he is the coach and will be the coach when that day comes. The same goes for any Kicks coach. Daniel Diaz coaches Kicks 05 and will be coaching Kicks 05 when signing day comes. At other clubs there will be coaches forced on teams, and not all parents will be happy with that.
Things are just done differently within this club for academy aged kids. We have 06s that get to train with the Kicks 05 Diaz team. We have 07s that get to train with the 06s and some play with the 06s.
We have boys teams of the same ages that are quality top teams within the boys ranks and train with and against the girls teams. The girls also routinely drop in and play with the boys teams against other boys teams.
Players are placed in the best situation possible for them to succeed. Kicks teams support each other not for the sake of a win, but the development of the player.
Kicks players play all the time. pick up games, scrimmages, boys leagues, girls leagues, play up a year, etc... they get the level of soccer they are looking for, no more, no less.
It is a lifestyle within Kicks. The players eat it up and the parents support it. It is not for everyone and there is nothing wrong with that. There is something out there for everyone.
Its not about rankings, its about playing a quality style of soccer, building strong individual players at the early ages so that when the time comes the tactical part of the game comes easier.
Ask yourself, would your DDs coach be open to her training with another coach within the club and not worry about that coach recruiting you and her away to another team. Most often the answer is no. How many Sting teams are there per age group and how many train together? How many openly play together and not just for the sake of a win. We dont leave players at home, we support each other and maximize playing time for all. Thats the point, to play, play as much as they child wants.
Look at the 01s as the way it will be for all the teams down the ranks.

Kicks 01 put the club on the map. Noone outside of the Kicks family expected this team to last. So as a club, yeah, they snuck onto the scene. Or maybe you can say they exploded onto the scene. This team will not have that surprise factor was my point.

No one in Kicks wants them or any of the other teams to sneak up on anyone. The goal is when you see Kicks on your schedule you know what you are getting, a quality opponent.

Maybe the New Year's libations are affecting my brain a bit, but I'm still not following your logic... If Kicks '01 didn't get picked apart by the big clubs as a lone wolf independent playing in all of the top leagues and tourneys for 2+ years leading up to select, why would there be more of a chance of that happening to the '06's now that they are an established club with a track record of placing 3 '01 teams in Lake Highlands (not to mention also having the #1 '01 team in PPL as well), plus a top 3 '05 team, and top '06 team?
...and full disclosure, I am in no way associated with Kicks and have never been associated with Kicks.

Sounds like you know a whole lot about nothing. Texans will be the number one team.

I won't and can't argue with your first statement. I am well known for being a "sink of useless knowledge."
I now see my typo.
My statement should have read "A top 3 '05 team and A top '06 team" (Did not intend to imply Kicks is the top '06 team, although they might be.)

Even though I'm sure you're being sarcastic, that is funny. I don't care who you are.
