Congrats to Sting West but I'm told several 03s played on this '04' team...
...a nice tournament win nonetheless. But, let's bring it back down a little.

Moreno played up in the 04's. Haven't seen them before. Very skilled team with lots of speed.

Lets call a spade a spade. Liverpool Owen only advanced past Spirit 04 in the semis due to a terrible call in expired time giving them a PK to tie the game and put it into OT PKs.

Spirit dominated this game from beginning to end. I understand very well that this is part of soccer, but to call it an "impressive" win is a severe overstatement. More of a win by typical poor NTX officiating.

As far as the statements about Texans-Moreno I agree wholeheartedly. A very talented 05 team.

How you look at it I guess. Owen forward had a jump on Spirit defender. Brought down hard from behind, not shoulder to shoulder. This was before time expired. Was a close game throughout. Spirit was up one goal at half. Owen tied game in second half. Spirit went up again with around 9 minutes left and stayed that way to the end. Hardly a 'dominating' performance.

Spirit had possession about 70% of that game with the majority played in the LP end of the field. Shots on goal favored Spirit about 20-5.

Wow! Impressive stat keeping there. The only shots I counted were the ones in the back of the net. Felt like the play was centered mostly around the midfield, and our goalie was never under the pressure that she had to stop 18 of 20 shots (not counting the 4 she stopped in PK's).

Like I said at the beginning call it how it was - a win. An impressive win no way, unless you are saying you're just impressed you won the game??

What I was impressed was the way the girls bounced back. They beat a Sting team they have played three times this past fall with an 0-2-1 record. Was an emotional win for them. They played poorly on Saturday, probably still emotionally drained from the previous evening, won the early game, and lost the evening game. They then had to wait for the results of the Sting/Texans game. Texans jumped to an early lead, but Sting came back late to give LP a spot in the semi's (thanks Sting!). The semi's you are familiar with, then they played Moreno in the finals very well winning the tourney. The fact that 8 year old girls came through this emotional and physical roller coaster, they were beat after playing 5 games, was what was impressive. Westside was not singling out any one game, but the entire tourney.

BTW, I hate penalty kicks to decide a tied game. I know that sometimes having OT's is difficult and PK's are the quickest way to settle a match, but I don't like the way it seems to single out a single player, even though 12 players are involved. My heart broke for that Spirit player who missed the shot, the same way it would have felt for our keeper if she would have missed the shot.

Thanks. Sure we'll meet again. Small soccer world in NTX. Was this the same team that played in EAL last fall?

I completely agree about PKs. There should always be at least be two 5 minute overtimes. And yes that Spirit player was in tears. She put the loss all on herself but the coach did a great job with his post game talk and the players all consoled one another as well.

No we played TGPL. Playing SDL this spring. I believe I saw a post that LP-Owen is playing SDL?

Yes, but we're not trying out for SDL platinum. We're playing in the Saturday SDL league. Good luck to you this spring!

Expect the unexpected, I suppose. I think most would agree with you, Westside.

May be pulling a "Brazil" here and looking to boost their rankings by playing outside the top two leagues!

Boost rankings? Last checking of FBR showed them only behind RASE. Should be playing in same league..
