Heard 10-12 Gio girls out at Colvin practice last night. Gio team is no more. Anyone know what happened? Who gets their spot in D1?

Sure it wasn't just some sort of combined Solar practice? Seems a little funny that team would just disband given their success.

Not feeling so good about this posting! This kind of sounds like someone is out to tear up a team. Whose vendetta is this, yours or someone else's? Sure does sound easy enough to verify before posting something like this. I just wanted to put that out there so that anyone new to the forum might not take this topic too seriously. I too have no first hand knowledge, I just know that this sounds like someone trying to stir things up. So I will not comment anymore to keep this at top of the "latest topic". However anyone with direct knowledge may want to dispute this and then let it die.

I heard this too. So what if it is true. And Solar couldn't keep 75% of the players there. What happens. Does the #11 team move up. Who would that be? Gofer, how bout some help here.

Heard same thing, lots of girls at Colvin practice all of a sudden. Wondering what is up? Anything to do with the SRSA 03 girls going to Colvin as well? Solar already combining for the pre-ECNL team? Maybe 2 good teams trying to combine for one really good team and one good team.
If a team folds, I believe the club can fill the spot with another Solar team, correct? I think 75% rule only applies for a team trying to leave the club and keep the spot. If a team folds, pretty sure the club keeps the spot.

Doubt if my little post can tear a team up. We have plenty of Colvin and Gio parents on these boards. From what I see nobody is disputing this.

My dd played with Gio for over a year. Adrian combined Colvin and Gio for camps all the time. I also know some Gio girls are out of town for residential soccer camp. Maybe Gio is out of town too and other Gio girls just getting some practice in with Colvin>?? Lots of explanations for this. They seemed strong together in Houston last weekend when we hung out with them.

Would be stupid for the Gio parents to throw away their starting roles on a D1 team after fighting for a year to finish as high as they did. If they stay together they could go to another club or coach as a group and hold all the cards. Guessing this is some combo practice that kicks off a bad rumor. When kids go new places playing time is hard to earn because you have to displace some other kids.

Solar doesn't have to keep any of the players to keep the bye... as long as 75% of the players from the Gio roster as of April 1, 2013 do not sign together on the same roster of another team in July.
IF the team has disbanded and IF the 75%+ don't sign up somewhere else, as long as Solar can put together a roster of 14 players, they can put any team in that place...
If the team disbanded and Solar either couldn't/didn't want to, put another team in their place, I believe that LHGCL would simply shuffle teams up a spot (i.e. Fever Red would get a D1 bye, FC Premier would get a D2 bye, LP Thompson would still be relegated to D3, Saints and Celtic still get promoted to D2, Texans Red gets a D3 bye, 4 D3 spots to be filled via QT). Not 100% sure on that, it's based primarily on how LHGCL has handled teams leaving LHGCL for ECNL at U14 and forfeiting their byes.
Solar would move SRSA03 into that slot. That's my bet. No club gives up a high Lake Highlands D1 slot unless they have no options. Anything in the rules to stop that?

I don't know about the 02 team either, but according to the 03 boards, Gio's 03 team blew up also.....is this a coincidence or related?

That team blew up because parents were naive enough to believe they were all playing for the 16th roster slot on SRSA 03 and when they realize that wasn't the case and then their games were dominated by SRSA 03 players taking up quite a few minutes most of them got fed up and left. At least that was the story I was told by multiple parents. If anyone wants to dispute it, my feelings won't be hurt.

So, SRSA 03 players were coming out to Gio 02 practices and threatening to take playing time away from 02 players? Is that what ur saying?

Why would a whole team buy into the idea of playing for 1 spot on the SRSA? What kind of delusion would they be under?

That is a load of crap GrandTX.
There were multiple reasons why the 03 Gio team blew up, but the 16th roster spot for SRSA is not one of them. Nor is SRSA players taking all of Gio minutes. Whoever the parents were who told you that are most likely the delusional yahoos who wanted their player in that spot or the one whose kid should have been sitting the bench anyway.
Most of the quality players from that team are still together and are helping form a stronger team than what they had at Solar.

If this was just a combined skills session, there would have been a post by a Gio parent by now. It seems suspicious that no Gio parent or Gio himself doesn't post and kill this rumor. I can't find his txsoccer id right now but I'm sure I saw a post from Gio a few months back.

Soccerskills is busy at the moment
. He is probably planning his roster for Flamefest.The team is fine people...find something else to worry about.
