just as when playing the 03's if our girls can go into the weekend and not waste the boys time and make it a competative game then thats enough for me. Now I know when SRSA played the top 03 boys team it was not that competative of a game. There were no complaints from the boys in fact they were very complimentery of the girls and thought they played great soccer. And actually better than alot of the boys teams they had run over. Those kind of complaint usually come from parents and boys who worry about losing and feel a need to build in an excuse. The top level teams go in expecting to win every game and they don't care what sex you are. And I am sure the boys teams that lost to SRSA looked at it as if hey some of you guys lost to them too. In a few years the boys will outpace the girls and even at this age you are starting to see a speed difference But right now a very good girls team can be competative

Why would they play against Boys teams where there are plenty of great girls team to play?  Doesn't do anything for the boys teams and the girls wind up getting hurt.  Does not make sense except in the rare case of an SRSA 03.

We will see how it goes but I really doubt the big mean ol boys will hurt our poor weak little rase girls.  Personally I think RASE fighting for survival will do them some good.  We will either see a RASE that improves or one that loses alot.  As far as doing nothing for the boys I will say they will bring their top game and work hard or they will be going home full of disappointment.
The point is it doesn't help the boys at all and most boys teams I know don't like playing girls past six years old.  If they win, (big deal, it was just girls), if the girls give them a game, ( what the heck happened?).  I don't see the need for girls to try and prove something by playing boys, but such is life.  The 04 girls division has some great teams that can challenge RASE and give them good games.

From my experience the girls teams rarely need to play boys to get a good game, but is more of an EGO thing.  The rare exception is SRSA that really did need to challenge with boys to get a game.
Name them?  From my understanding, RASE beat the number #2 ranked team back then 11-0.
Only 3 teams can give them a decent game, one which is coached by same LP coach. Dalglish, LFS, DTS.

Not sure what game you are referring to, I don't recall Rase scores against any of the above teams in the last year except DTS almost a full year ago. That score was 4-1 not 11-0.
Actually the score was 11-0 with LFS and the DTX vs LFS vs Dalglish was competative between the 3. That being its a good choice for our team and any boy and his parents who have issues with competing against girls have bigger issues than soccer

I believe 4DaLuv was referring to earlier this year.  LFS was #2 and played RASE '04 in SDL Platimum and the score was 11-0.  As far as DTS, I think most of us on here will say that was last Fall.  No disrespect to DTS, but I dont believe it will be as close as you think.  Just my opinion.

Eventually, at around age 12-13, the boys run off and leave the girls competitively. Testosterone ultimately kicks in and they are both faster and stronger.  At a young age, girls have the advantage in that their development tends to outpace the boys.  So if leagues are going to let girls' teams take advantage of this window during which the females have the upper hand, why not let the boys' teams into the girls' leagues as they mature and the balance has shifted?  Fair is fair.
Our team of girls has played several tournaments vs boys and the boys have not let up, they gave our girls everything they had and made for a very competitive game for both teams.
That may be your perception as a parent of a girl.  I wonder what was said on the sideline by the boys' coaches during these matches.  I'll bet it was statements like "you guys need to quit pulling up against these girls and be more physical!"  And I'll bet the statements were similar in the car rides home by the boys' parents.  It's in the eye of the beholder.

How about this:  If a girls' team is so great, then perhaps they should make a commitment to ALWAYS play against male competition, not just when it suits the ego of the coaches and/or parents.  How many of the once great girls' teams are playing in boys' tournaments at, say, U14?  If it's really about development and playing better competition (and they don't mind losing by double digits), I would love to see them give it a try.
We had multiple parents and coaches from the boys teams approach us after games to express their thoughts on how they thought the girls played and how it was good for their boys to see that style of play (possession and ball movement). So I guess our experiences are different.

WOW JS, bitter much?

Ego has nothing to do with these decisions. It's simply about a coach looking at the situation and deciding what is the most appropriate environment to give his/her team the best development opportunity RIGHT NOW.

There is a simple reason why you see this happen with a top team every year at U10, and that is because it is the ONLY year where NTSSA rules prevent teams in that age bracket from playing up against teams in an older age bracket. If the top U10 girls teams were allowed to play up against U11 girls, then you would likely n-e-v-e-r see a top girls team try to go play against boys.

Lighten up. Haven't heard of a single case of a U10 girl getting seriously injured playing against boys the past 3 years, and haven't heard of a single case of a U10 boy getting his ego so bruised that he was emotionally scarred for the rest of his life...

...some U10 parents on the other hand??? Different story. Seems that those egos suffer some irreparable damage from this, but frankly, who cares about that?

Gosh we have some weirdos on this forum. I say good luck to any girls team playing boys, show 'em how to play! My BB has played girls teams a number of times and lost once, its no biggie. Girls are more mature and generally more intelligent at 9 or 10, the boys just want to do it themselves. Y'all should try and watch RASE play, they are very talented and it will be good for their development and speed of play.

Bitter? Because I have a different view on this? Passionate, perhaps. I've played against girls teams when I was in select soccer in my youth, in high school against the varsity team for scrimmages, and in co-ed indoor adult leagues. My male teammates and I always played females with less intensity. It was simply ingrained in us.

JS, even though I respect your right to have a different opinion, I have to admit that I still cannot understand your strong stance on this one.  I have 1 boy and 2 girls that play soccer from select to the academy level and the only angst I have seen on this issue is with the parents/adults. Kids typically do not care who they play unless they are conditioned to care by their parents. Unfortunately, there are not enough of us who are teaching our kids (boy or girl) to always respect their competition.

At this age, physical differences are not that great and should not be used as a criteria to deny a qualified girls team from playing boys.  Over the coming years, the same cannot be said as both groups begin to move through their pubescent years.

First off I was agreeing that three teams, two that you don't see all the time are a good reason to play boys when you can't play up.

Second I'm not sure which lfs girls you beat 11-0 but jk often mixes them. Anyhow, I don't see rase winning 11-0 on dalglish or dts but hey who knows. The dts game against rase was a first game in 2 months for dts. I'm sure both teams are better now.

It was 11-0 against his top team.

I don't expect that another game against LFS would be 11-0.  I don't think there is an 11 points difference between the 2 teams now or then but it wasn't as close as some were expecting then. And thats kind of the reason for playing the boys. Rase is not resting back, collecting a few wins and waiting for teams to catch them. The team is pushing to get better, improve, and increase the gap. I think it will be great for some of our girls to all of a sudden find their speed no longer solves problems on the field or that mistakes can't be corrected by team speed.

and what is that reason?
From my understanding, last year there seemed to be a some scheduling conflict with LFS.  I also heard with DTS, the parents didn't want to make the trip Sat. and Sun. for league play.  Who's to say that's the same reason these time around.
I'm a little slow on the take..why would they have to make the trip both days?

They were already playing D1 on Saturday. To play Platinum, the would've played Sunday as well. Spirit did this, but didn't have to drive near as far.

I still don't get it. Isn't that a matter of choice? Is there a reason they have to play D1 on Saturday? Why not just do Platinum on Sunday if you want to play against the "best"?
