DT South 03 received 2700+ points last year for winning it according to this: http://home.gotsoccer.com/rankings/team.aspx?TeamID=309503

Re: 04 Labor Day Tournament
D'Feeters 04 White just won Texas Summer Classic and got 2400 points. PLD should be way loaded with more top ranked teams than Texas Summer Classic. There should be good competition..

Because it's a holiday and SOME people are a little less concerned than others about this entire ranking thing at the moment... it's the beginning, a LOT of years of soccer in front of us, QT's and King Tut just behind us and a traveling tournament last weekend - why NOT take a break, catch our breath before every weekend becomes a home away from home? Elitists push for games every weekend, normal people take a break now and then... just my take... just FYI, my kid doesn't play on the defacto or the non-defacto but it seems it's a little early not to get a rest in when it's offered up over a three day weekend... I'd rather be on the lake or at the lakehouse drinking a beer and enjoying the last few days of summer freedom than being holed up at a soccer tournament sweating my arse off just so my 10 year old can prove to someone else that she's on the defacto or non-defacto number 1 team... But that's JUST MY TAKE...

Well good for Most Teams, some have not, so they will over a three day weekend... go ahead and argue the point all you want. My guess is those few teams that don't play will be sitting at home reading all you complaining about the heat and the fact that these few teams aren't at the tournament "but should be". All the while, tipping a cold beer and watching their little soccer star swim, tube, eat ice cream, stay up late one last time and not giving two hoots about a Plano Labor Tournament. I'll even raise a tall frosty one to those of you that have made 10 year old soccer your entire lives and have a NEED to play every weekend, especially holidays. Here's to you Mr-and-Mrs-Soccer-Elitist-That-Love-Ten-Year-Old-Professional-Soccer-Persons, while I raise my cold Bud Light, on a boat, in the sun - you all have fun now ya' hear?

Nope, just defending the ones that haven't been and being put in YOUR cross-hairs for no reason...

Re: 04 Labor Day Tournament
Some teams are just choosing to get their warm up games elsewhere, I think Spirit is playing up in Beat the Heat this weekend and skipping the PLD. Really won't get any competition from the Oklahoma teams (should have tried playing up in the 03's) but at this point is just about getting a few last games in under their belts before league starts.

GrandTXSoccer wrote:It should be a much bigger tournament than it is but I think it just doesn't get as much because it's so flipping hot this time of year. No one really wants to travel to DFW in August vs. traveling to lets say San Diego or Colorado or Chicago in the summer. Bring a team to this heat that isn't used to it and a really good team will be wiped out by the 3rd game. Plus it's so early in the year, there really aren't that many points available for winning this tournament in your first year. So even if you had all the LH DI qualified teams entered, the points would remain about the same. Next year though would be a slightly different story as far as Gotsoccer points go but without an influx of outside teams it's never going to be an Elite level tournament.

Maybe you should go back and read.
"Agreed. Most teams have taken breaks. Last I recall, all D1 Teams qualified July 27th. PLD starts Aug 29th. Sound like a long break too me between QT and PLD.. Im assure this does not apply to all teams."
