04 Labor Day Tournament

I don't rely on my 10 year old soccer team for my joy? Too many other things in life.

no deflecting, no hiding, if you can take the sunshine of being at the top you can take your lumps when you fall. So thats fine to get your licks in on a team while you hide yours but I expect to see you back on here when they go back to winning ( I will still be here if they continue to lose)

When were you on top? Last time I checked you were not ranked #1 on Got Soccer or whatever rankings you wish to use.

we actually were on top of gotsoccer. the new year started and games dropped off. Have your fun and enjoy. Just find your way back on when they win

Scotties do not have the offensive power to beat Elite's defense and Elite will expose the Scott defenders. Elite will obviously be motivated and my expectation is they will score at least 3 goals while giving up none. Elite will play much more loosely now that the streak is not hanging over their heads.

If they were older, I would agree about playing more loosely. But, 10 or 100, I am sure they do not like losing and are not accustomed to it. I would hate to be the next few teams that play them.

I think everyone is surprised at the result. For those that say, I knew it would happen, this team is better, etc.... they are either lying to themselves or don't know anything about soccer. Elite is still the best 04 team around. The margin is still pretty wide. They had an off day as all teams do. It's not like the team that beat them is some undefeated team that has a similar resume. They just happened to be on the other side of the ball during Elite's hiccup. Doesn't mean they aren't a great team, they obviously are. But one loss does not change the facts that they remain the best team in this age group. This just made them human. Other teams now have something to strive for, and LP has something to prove. Either way, it should make for a fun season.

From what I saw elite is not the best team around. Way too much kick ball. No surprise. Not a lot of real soccer. Defense needs a lot of work. Really weak. Texans played a better game against D'Feeters. Texans will dominate. Two in a row. Elite has work to do to get use to the new reality - magic is gone.

Elite is more dangerous now than they have ever been. Like a hornets nest that has been disturbed. As far as scoring at least three goals on Scott next week, lets hope their defense and keeper can continue to work together like they have been.

Too much skill and speed up top for elite. Scott won't be able to clear as easily against them. Though Scott does have a very good goalie, she will face many more shots on Saturday.

Scott can hang if they don't get caught up in the voodoo. They have good D and if they can increase the tempo it's going to be a game. They already play an aggressive game - elite doesn't in my humble opinion. Elite is going to have to bring it.

The defense that has rarely been scored upon, need a lot of work? Is that what you are saying?

Exactly, you made my point. I don't know where that D is at the moment but Elite looked like every other 04 team this weekend.

D'feeters dun shook up the world...pressures on Scott, the people are waiting on y'all for confirmation of the gap closure....Elite, the road to redemption starts Saturday at 11:30am wish I could watch

Yes their stats look impressive but look at their opponents recent records. They've faced one real top team and that was Feet black. So yeah I'd say we can't really gauge where they stand until DTS, Scott, Spirit, and some other game results are in.

you mean two goalies, that sweeper sits so far back it makes life really difficult. Tough for any long ball to work and anyone breaking down the field will eventually get double teamed....

Blood is in the water. Scott and Spirit games will be fun to watch!

Well I see the whole gang is out tonight. So let's discuss what we learned this weekend:

1. Texans Scott deserves serious props for coming out on top in that bracket AND going on to win the trophy. It ain't pretty but it works. Love those guys even tho we can't seem to beat them lately.

2. LP Elite is beatable and really do play a lot of kickball and by the looks of the other 2 LP teams in the thing, that might be what they mean by the " LP way"

3. TSC would be a LH D1 team next year if they were in fact in the league.

4. The tourney was rigged but D'Feeters spoiled the plan by shocking the small world of NTX soccer. Fun game tho. Glad I was there.

5. LP Owen sideline scored more "mama jokes" in 1 game than their team scored points in the entire tourney. Classy bunch there.

How's the other LP team doing? No one is talking about
them. They are the ones that made it to the finals and all the talk is about Elite. Why can't Premier be the number 1 LP team?

The defense was shaky all weekend which is unusual. Only 1 goal given up in bracket play but there were opportunities in every game which is unusual for this defensive group. And yes waaaay too much kickball in the defeeters game and it's not something elite does well. The only goal game from a very nice series of connected passes resulting in a easy tap in goal. The girls and coach will recover and go back to their old way of playing good soccer and be fine. Or they will continue to run at teams and try to get in behind and do okay but won't be anything special. If you saw the game and it was the first time you would think "very NTX". If you have seen them before you would think "wow thats different". I wasn't impressed and we got the loss we deserved and that had been coming all weekend. But even playing that way I think we can beat scott and probably spirit. It was a came of pure athleticism and defeeters had the team full of athletes to match.
