bigtex wrote:I am not posting to defend Stark prior moves or defend his decision to come to Rush.  But I know he is absolutely doing the right thing for his family and his teams with the current move to Texans.  I am not here to bash on Rush, but it was a clear decision in most (if not all) the parents eyes (and I am talking all of his team not just the 02 Dynamo team).  I don’t know for a fact nor do I care if Johnny is taking the 02 team ECNL.  I also cannot speak to any Dynamo 02 parents running the show, but I find that highly doubtful knowing Johnny.  Is Johnny maybe too loyal to some of the players he has developed for all these years- possibly.  But are we seriously going to bash a guy for being loyal to his families and players.  I think there is probably roster changes to make I am sure, but I love that the coach is slow to cut players and rather looks at how he can better develop players.  Obviously at some point you have to make changes and with the culture at the Texans with the importance placed winning I am sure that will change.  But I admire Johnny for his loyalty to his families and players.

Why do you think his players/families are so loyal to him?  Is Johnny perfect- No.  Forget the color of the uniform and the changing of those colors- coaches like Johnny are what is right with NTX soccer not what is wrong with it.

At the end of the day that is all noise.  Johnny teaches and has the girls playing the game the right way.  And for me just as importantly the girls LOVE him and so do the vast majority of the parents.  I have yet to see a girl come to one of Johnny’s practices and not enjoy being there.  He is not the coach for everyone, but he is a gifted coach none the less.  There may be a time when my dd will have to make soccer career decisions that lead her away from Johnny and same for him and that is part of the process….but I can tell you whenever that day comes there will be a lot of tears shed.
Nice guy yes, good coach yes probably but parents running the show - ABSOLUTELY- they decide who he picks up ( not him) , they decided tournaments etc. you can't be friends with a few of your parents and their children and not be clouded. His parents won't get on here and confirm, bc there is way worse out there. Grubb girl was a great pick up, but don't think those who are unhappy will jump off bandwagon and start on other D1 teAms. Just my opinion. Not bashing him personally, he just needs to stop playing FRIEND card with a select few bc it spills over to the coaching part,

Johnnysoccer seems to jump ship too often.  Fine for him and his family…I get that.  It's ok at the younger ages for his loyal followers to tag along but probably not much longer.  Texans needed a reboot at the '02 level (and lower) after Higg departure but the BIG problem is H at the helm.  Old dog NOT gonna be open to learn new tricks no matter who comes in.  (Perfect example is how poorly the girls international cup is run from an insiders perspective as a friend of a major sponsor…pathetic for the talent that shows up and compared to other big name tourneys). Girls side of txns may be sc#@!$d going forward in the next few years.  Isn't the consensus on this forum that most anti Texans?  Thats what I seem to get...

Any opinion who is the best club for girls?  I truly think it comes down to the best coach but they all seem to hop around too much and I could not afford all those kits!!!

I've watched Johnny Soccer's team play us for many years now. I've also watched many matches against the Texan teams (Higgy and South). He clearly practices a pass and move triangle system with technical players that is very different than normal long-ball hard tackle fast & tall Texans mold.

I think the question is does the Texans push their system on Johnny Soccer or does Johnny Soccer help the Texans see than there is more than one way to produce results. The big red machine isn't a club that leaves the coach on his own without input.

Good teams----it comes down to the coach. My DD has had the very bad and the very good. Haven't been on a Stark team but have heard he is good. Also you re right...not LP but Solar.....oops!

All I know is that after reading this thread i can only conclude that he must be one hell of a good coach . Apparently he has no "big name 11 year old players" but his team seems to be doing just fine in LH D1

Put it this way. Every time I see them score, its always a different kid. Seems like they take turns. I think the team is well coached but doesn't have a primary scorer.
