Who the coaches offer paper too will depend on who shows up to sign. Unfortunate but happens. The other part of this is that if they are left out as hard as that is for them they would have been bench. So maybe better off with another team anyway. However, would be nice to know up front.
Agree with this. If a better or several better players showed up, I think it would be much worse to be relegated to the bench vs not being signed where they might be able to go somewhere where they get more playing time.

i think this is easily fixed..let coaches sign players in June. offers you a spot? fine both sign right now, no guess work, no well someone better came along etc, signed contract in hand...

Had 3 go all the way through the journey and on our 4th. We've experienced far more credible coaches than scoundrels, but then we always did due diligence on the coach and never joined a team based on ranking or jersey color.
Scoundrels are out there for certain, but I don't think it's that hard to avoid them. I do know some coaches have been labeled as dishonest after parents failed to a) ask the hard questions or b) hear the actual answer and not what they wanted to hear.
The most difficult, yet most important, parental quality is objectivity. Coaches will improve the team any chance they get. If you are realistic about where the dd fits, its hard to get surprised.
This time of year we've experienced far more deceit from parents trying to play both sides of the fence than coaches.

That last statement rings so true..maybe I been in lurker mode to long but I have found that a lot of folks wanna play for the whoever but.the soccer.level aint there, and therefore.kid rides the bench...the best thing to keep in mind is your hiring someone to do a job. More parents need to ask.the hard questions and be ready for the tough answers...in my humble opinion..

+1 to this....................especially that in red.
Take your emotion out of it, keep your eyes open, and use common sense. Do that and you won't have a problem finding the best fit for what your DD needs (key word there - needs). Don't create a false reality just because that's what you, I mean your DD, wants.

dobbers wrote:It's hard to understand why anyone would want their DD on a DI/D2/D3 team if they only get limited playing time and max bench time. I have seen lots of those specially in D1. Wouldn't they imporve and love soccer more in say..PPL or Arlington and play 90-100%. So, that being said...play in a tournament and see how much your DD actually plays. It's worth more than what the coach says. He wants to win and will put out the team that will best help him achieve that goal.
i would agree but heres a thought, most of your dd time is spent in PRACTICE not games. if she has a good coach and is getting much better, than it may be time well spent ...by the way i would like to see NTX make coaches sign binding letters of intent to sign and then the guesswork would be off parents shoulders...
