They did not make it, rightfully so. Never saw tham as a D-1 team.
What a tool. D'Feet White allowed 1 goal all tourney. They were 120 seconds from tying texans scott. Ask any of the Scott parents if they are good enough for D1.
I feel bad for D'Feet White and Thunder (zero goals against, didn't lose a game). Under the previous year's qualifying rules, they both would have been a real beast to play in week two for the remaining D1 spots. It has to suck to barely miss. The good news, if there is any, is that they are positioned to have a strong year in D3 and be ready for promotion next year.

Yep, only type of soccer they know. Stack 'em deep and keep it cheap. They played same type of soccer against Rase few weeks ago and against another team in a previous tournament. Not worthy of D1. Everyone entitled to own opinion. Saw much better soccer last couple weeks by lot lower ranked teams who went head on with top 10 teams instead of parking the bus. Yes, I said it, parking-the-bus!!!!
What y'all need to get is a clue what y'all are talking about. I saw a "top 10 team" do the same thing last weekend and that was a friendly. So what.

You want to talk about egos? Are you kidding too? Did you see the score of the game today? That was hardly a blowout. C'mon man? As I've said before, the problem is the hatred. That's obvious. Nothing to do with egos. Y'all got that covered.

I don't think anyone came on here complaining about the finish - just noting how close some of the games were and how little separated the final D1 qualifiers from those just out of qualifying.

Your point was correct. There were a lot of really good teams out there that just missed. Next week will be a great bunch of games also. Good luck to all. Will you be arriving on the UTD bus next week too?....

Congrats to all the teams. You can probably even start figuring out the schedule, assuming they do it like last years.
How was it done last year?
I was able to figure out the schedule ahead of time last year. I think I used info from BWGophers so credit goes to him even though he claims it didn't work last year. This is what I did:
Seeding for the regular season was: Winner of group A is #1. Winner of group B is #2 and so on. Last year the other D1 teams were winners of the groups from week two, but I assume you just go down in order of points after the 13 first place teams.
For week 1 it was #1 v #20, #2 v #19 and so on. After that it got more time intensive. I had the rank of the '03 teams based on QT and the rank of the '02 teams based on QT. My daughter is on Texans and we qualified by winning the 12th group. So I found the 12th '02 team and figured out the rank of team they played each week and then matched that up to the '03 teams. It was almost perfectly accurate. The only adjustment came from when the '02s had been rained out and those games had been moved.
I did it while I sat at my daughter's gymnastic class. It took 20-30 minutes and two pieces of notebook paper.

Really was a continuation of what a lot of us thought. There are 8-10 teams that can separate themselves from the next 12-14. Each of those groups are pretty close to each other. I'm sure D'Feet White, Thunder, and one or two others who missed out would match up just fine with the bottom half of D1 during a full season.

Clearly a few Argentina haters here - seeing as how they parked the bus against The Netherlands.

OK this would be the seeding for League Play based on this:
So week 1 scheduled would be:
Texas Spirit 04 vs Dallas Kicks 04
LP Elite 04 vs Sting Guzman
DT South vs Sting North Angell
DT Scott vs TX Spirit North
D'Feeters Black vs DT Stark
LP Owen vs Mustangs
LP Premier vs LP Redknapp
Sting Donovan vs FC Dallas Premier
Sting Chacon vs Sting Cuevas
Odyssey vs Solar Pulpaneck

Re: '04 LH QT Predictions
Would D'Feeters White have played a different tactical game if they knew going in that either a 5-1 loss or a 0-0 draw would have gotten them through into D1?

Re: '04 LH QT Predictions
Lfs white is one case but GSSC and Sting West both are easily top 20 teams but have no way to fix it now. Too much of new system is based on initial seeding and less on results.

Only 1 person can answer that question and I doubt he's posting on here. My guess is that they wanted to take matters into their own hands. They knew what they needed to do. 0-0 would've definitely gotten them in I think.

Don't know that I'd say it "fails miserably", but it doesn't leave much room for error in Week 1. I'm still more of a fan of the "old" format though, but I would make one key change to that format...
Instead of using the system of forming the week 2 brackets directly from the week 1 brackets and bracket placement (ignoring points), I would re-seed week 2 based on week 1 points. It makes the process a little more dependent on performance, and less susceptible to seeding errors carrying over from week 1 and affecting week 2 outcomes.
Just MHO...

Re: '04 LH QT Predictions
I would not count on this method. There are any number of reasons, including GotSoccer wonkyness, that a strict Premier League match ordering would not be followed or previous years schedules repeated. The schedule will be made taking into consideration coaching and other conflicts (meet the referee, approved tournaments, etc.). In other words, don't plan on it, but it "might" turn out this way. YMMV...Tom P. wrote:I was able to figure out the schedule ahead of time last year. I think I used info from BWGophers so credit goes to him even though he claims it didn't work last year. I was talking about a change I would make to the previous years' format. I don't know how they are going to seed week 2 this year.

go99 wrote:Defeeters white did it too themselves. The name of the game for QT was offense. Beating the top seed in the bracket wasn't nearly as important as scoring goals. Great job on playing organized and only giving up 1 goal but it's the paltry 6 goals going the other way thats sending them into the next weekend. Coach should have done the math before the tournament because the name of the game was go forward.
Last comment on this(pause for applause).......you're right. However the coach wasn't taking the shots. The chips fell and it is what it is. Kicks player made a great play in our game as well. They did what they had to do to get in and the White team didn't. It happens. My replies were in response to the jacka££ trying to say that they don't know how to play soccer. There was no comment necessary there. Pretty classless in my book. To everyone that made it congrats.

So is this team something everyone should re-evaluate and consider with the top teams or was this a one off? Real deal or pretender?
In my opinion, we're probably closer to our pre-Tut FBR ranking than our post-Tut ranking. Now we have to back that up on the field in D1!

Right well isn't the goal to get the top 20 teams together? How does a team give up no goals and and not making top 20?
Even more so, how does a team take a single 1-0 loss to a top 3 team unbeaten by any other in 10 months and not get into top 20?
I'm not with either team just stating the obvious that if this new system was to minimize controversy or make final call more even it has missed the mark.
