New to NTX soccer...and still trying to figure out why so many families pay $3000 for a program that can't get into LH.

2. because not every kid peaks at the same time (what?!? not all olympians were peaking at 11? crazy talk i know)
3. because some kids are doing several sports and trying to find their passion for one and the parent are opening the door for them to do so at a higher level but not the pressure of trying to be on LH
4. because some parents dont want their kids to play with a volunteer coach in rec and want their kid to have a licensed coach who understands the game in a different way (and yes some volunteer coaches are awesome, but not all)
and let's be real.....
5. because some are fcd fans and want to wear those awesome jerseys, get the free player ticket and discounts on their season pass
6. because "there is always next year" and our team will be lh d1
7. because they can

Paying $3000 for a "licensed coach" just doesn't make sense when DD would still play in a league that is one step above rec. You can still get a licensed coach and quality coach at another club for a fraction of the cost. FCD has 6 '04 teams in PPL (1 even in div II). You don't see that representation in PPL from Sting, Solar, or other clubs who charge the big fees. Why is that? Something is not working with the " FCD Way"?
Wow someone is a little pissy today.

Pissy? No, but checkbook is still smoking from the cost of NTX competitive soccer but probably shouldn't post until second cup of coffee...

That's funny. Completely understand the checkbook thing. There is no way my parents would have forked over this kind of money for me to play youth sports. There was an article recently in the Dallas Morning News pointing out the only people that are benefiting from the cost of competitive youth sports are the people collecting the checks. Yet we keep writing the checks.

I do say to each his own. The thing is the greed of the clubs and coaches will catch them sooner or later. I would bet at least half of those teams will break up in a couple of years. If they were smart they would gear certain teams to ppl for the parents or kids that don't want all the craziness and just want to have fun and play. But...the price should not be the same....this is what they don't get. I agree with the previous poster I would not pay $3000 for a semi rec team when you can go with an independent for a lot less. The product is just not the same as a coach that teaches at a high level and can attract talent. If they made it more reasonable in cost and time I bet a lot of those teams would stay together a lot longer. I also think several teams in PPL can play in LH and will, but most of them never will....so what if they don't, if the kids enjoy it. Which goes back to my point.....It is insane that the cost of an excellent coach is the same as an ok one... the product is not the same irregardless of playing in PPL or LH.

Club Fee $1000 - Team to Play PPL and practice once per week and play 1 tournament with a D License or better coach
Club Fee $1600 - Team to play PPL and practice twice per week and play 2 or 3 Tournaments with a D License coach or better
Club Fee $2200 - Team to Try to qualify Lake Highlands, practice twice a week play 3 or 4 Tournaments (one out of town) and a C License Coach or better
Club Fee $3000 - Team will play Lake Highlands, Practice 3 times a week, play 4 to 5 tournaments (2 out of town) and a B License Coach or better
How many would prefer that type of set up?

Now that's a tiered program everyone can get behind...."Pay and Play" to your skill level.
I wonder how much the "Purple Cobra's" charge for their program?
Wish they had more teams: http://www.txsoccer.net/t21297-purple-cobras-in-need-of-a-gk-cheap-and-no-practices?highlight=purple
