Re: D1 LHGCL Wednesday and Plano Labor Day Picks
1. The top 3 teams (Solar, Sting Higgy and FCD) are still supreme despite of all the player movements over the summer. The fight among these teams to settle which team will be #1 will take some time, be interesting to watch and "must see" soccer.
2. Andromeda and Texans Red are solid teams but a big step behind the top 3. Neither team has enough offense to challenge the top teams. Andromeda has upgraded their defense with recent additions.
3. Fevers Red has found winning in D1 difficult even when they played the Sting Brown team which has a vulnerable defense that lacks speed. They were beaten soundly by Texans Red. They couldn't play long ball in D1 even against the bottom teams like Sting Brown and will have to develop a ball control approach to their game if they wish to compete with the top teams.
4. Sting Brown is a big surprise so far by getting a tie against a faster and more talented Fevers and a solid win over FCD Blue. Their weakness in the midfield and defense due to lack of speed and ball control is obvious. With some improvement, this team can compete with Fevers for the #6 spot.
5. FCD Blue is a disappointment so far. There has been no cohesion to their game which has had plenty of "kick ball anywhere" approach. How could they lose to Sting Brown by allowing one midfielder to score 2 goals on top the goal box? What has happened to the solid midfield and defense play from last year? WoW!
6. Sorry but Texans White does not belong in D1. It could have been much worse so allowing 15 goals in 2 games against the top 2 teams may be a moral victory. May be! Moral victory does not count for much in this league. It's actually a crime to subject these young girls to this unusual kind of cruelty. First, Texans should have had a tryout to put together a better team to compete at this level. Second, LHGCL should have required an open tournament that allow all the D2 teams to fill any unexpected opening in D1. The bye should not belong to the club if at least 60% of the players are not return to the team for the following year. Yeah, yeah, yeah! It is not about fairness or reason here. It's all about protecting the money machines of the big clubs in north Texas. Ahhhh I see!!!

Yeah I was told that Jimmy Johnson was a great coach when he won Super Bowls with Troy, Emmit, Michael, a massive offensive line and a great defense. Then he was not so great with the Dolphins with no offense or defense. Jimmy was smart enough to know that he sucked without great players so he quitted. Coach Stark needs a goalie, defense, midfield and offense with speed and skills. Anyone see those things somewhere in Dallas please call coach Stark. Too bad Stark is not playing soccer for his team! Coach Stark and the team are in a tough spot. Every team in D1 is smelling blood so there is no place to hide. Let's see how great Grubb, Higgy and Missimo are if any of them or all of them take over the Texans White team. If any or all of these great coaches in D1 can coach Texans White to one or two victories this soccer season, they surely earn the title of the best coaches EVER in sport. I will throw in dinner for him/them at Nick and Sam's Steakhouse! The point is winning and losing is mostly a result of the players playing the game on the field. Coaches get too much credit for success and not enough blame for failure....
