After a few seconds of research, these are the previous scores from Diaz v Abbott, all wins by Diaz,(3-1, 3-0, 1-0). Seems to me, there's nothing more to be said!!

A great response to those who suggested Hyypia had no business playing boy's platinum.  Congrats, girls!

To follow that up with the same score of 2-1 vs Gerrard seems a bit strange... http://events.gotsport.com/events/schedule.aspx?EventID=40022&GroupID=374707&Gender=Girls&Age=10

Big weekend of games this next weekend... Game of the week without a shadow of a doubt will be Hyyia vs Sting Diaz, although after the tie of Hanlon and Rush Sunday, this game might get interesting as well LA vs Hanlon...

Nothing strange, it was a great game! Gerrard showed up to play against a tough team and did well.

Post by TatonkaBurger 29/09/14, 09:15 am

I have to get myself some sort of smartphone so I can keep with all of the weekend banter.  Well done everyone.

I posted up by the snack shack and watched most of the Friday night games.  The posted commentary is generally dead on but I will add my own observations.

SOLAR CHELSEA 05G PULPANECK - 5 vs STING CENTRAL 05 PARSONS – 0
As expected, this game was never a question.  But there was a very poor call on a PK in the box in favor of Solar.  I continue to be amazed at how bad the refs are, or um, how they continue to have off-days.  Either they are scared to death to make a call in the box (whether it is a foul or handballs like in the Diaz/Abbott game) or get overzealous and finally make one that is clearly inappropriate.  They are humans but wow.  Again though, it didn't matter in this one.

DALLAS TEXANS FARLEY - 0 vs DEFEATERS 05 COLON - 3
This one should have been 6-0.  2 goals scored in the first 5 minutes and then the 3rd was added before halftime.  The guesting keeper obviously did not matter but I do not think it is permanent by any means.  Farley was just trying to have a good showing and you can't blame them for that based on how the season is going.  I am not sure why a team like Feet that has had a hard time scoring would take their foot off the gas.  There aren't any other confidence builders in the Platinum division.

STING 05 - SCARFONE - 1 vs LADY AZTECS FC 05 BLUE – 1
I was a little shocked about this one but am now realizing that I should not be.  Scarfone plays a tough defensive game and finds ways to put the ball in the net when it matters.  Lady Aztecs are definitely sliding which would have surprised me a year ago but now I do not see the separation with some of the other teams.  The quick answer is to blame the new red uniforms. Yousers.

STING DALLAS DIAZ BLACK 05 - 3 vs SOLAR ABBOTT 05 GIRLS – 1
I don't agree with the pity party for Solar Abbott.  Sting is the better team and looked it on the field.  Solar got the first goal but there was no question after that.  I already ranted about the refs but they were not the reason this was a 3-1 loss for Solar.  Style of play at this level makes a big difference and the better team won.  Now, whether Sting is the #2 or #3 team is a question that will be answered this weekend against Hyypia.  It is definitely the game of the week.

And Sunday:
FC DALLAS 05 HANLON - 0 vs DALLAS RUSH FC 05G VOUTIER – 0
Amazing call by Soccer Advice on this prediction.  I did not expect it at all.

LFCA 05 GIRLS GERRARD - 1 vs LFCA 05 GIRLS HYYPIA DRAKE – 2
I did not think this one would be this close.  Looking forward to this weekend's game of the week.

If you were at the snack shack, how did you see the call? Wasn't it on the other side of the field?

Thanks for keeping me honest LD.  Yes, that is exactly how it happened but the overall reaction was the reason for my commentary.  I saw it happen, granted from a long distance, but heard several hot sports opinions from both sides on its legitimacy.  It does not change the fact that the refs are inconsistent and were having "off-days".  I have seen far worse in the box (from close and far distances).

No slight at all against Solar Pulp, I am just venting.  I'm going to walk outside and take some deep breaths now.

I think the refs have been told not to leave the big circle in the middle. If they do, they get fined.

Speaking of circles. It looked like their were 20 guys hanging out by the bathrooms with you Friday night. What's up with that?

Oh those guys?  Yea they were near me.  They were either playing Dungeons & Dragons or trading their NWSL cards.  I'm not sure.
