Re: NTX teams in Houston
And a side note - my '74 wife played for Texas Spirit and still says that traveling with her team was one of the highlights of her youth.
And a side note to my side note - my wife just told me traveling out of town to play NTX teams sucks.

Ends up that 14 of the 23 teams are from NTX with 5 of 7 of them from the 04 age group. Wonder how they will split these up? Guess we could've saved some gas and hotel money and stayed home!

I'm not sure if I'd wanna drive 4 hours, pay for hotel, food, and gas to play 2 or 3 games against teams we already play here in NTX. Being from Houston and with me and the wife's folks still living there, it's only costing me gas and it's giving the Grands a chance to see DD play but I can see how others would have a problem with it. Might as well just enter a tourney here around that time.
It is not about you.
If your DD is on the right team for her, these trips will be one of the things she remembers long after the wins and losses fade from memory.

Some of you people have too much discretionary income. As parents, we are not obligated to show our DDs a good time. What about teaching them the value of a dollar? This tourney sounds like a big waste of time and money. I'd rather take my wife on a date, Lord knows we all need to do more of that.

Re: NTX teams in Houston
My DD was actually looking forward to playing some different teams and seeing some different styles along with playing in front of her Grands. The opportunity to test yourselves against different teams is what these out of town and out of state trips should be about along with some fun for the DD's. The only issue I had was possibly playing 2-3 games against teams we see here every other month but this tourney did an excellent job of scheduling. Although 17 of the 40 teams in the U12 bracket were from NTX, I don't think any teams from NTX were scheduled to play each other. I guess it's a moot point now. On a side note...we traveled to Tennessee for a tournament in the fall. All the girls had a blast but I thought it was funny that we played a NTX team in the semis.Elpistolero wrote:Weren't any of your teams scheduled to travel to spring, tx this weekend? "Teams will receive as close to a full refund as possible."
I wonder if it will be more than 75% (unless you decide apply your fees to the new 5v5 tournament taking its place)
