CPP Rule Change Empty CPP Rule Change

Post by purplefrog 11/08/15, 09:43 am

The Lake Highlands Coach/Manager meeting is tonight, so I guess we will find out what the changes, if any, will be regarding the CPP rule.

Does anyone have any inside info and want to spill the beans early? Or, anyone want to take a stab at what the change will be?

Adopt boys rules.

Or only allow 1 CPP for all games, not just last 3.

Or shifting hard to the conservative side, only allow players from team from outside the league.

Don't the boys rules only allow for CPP when a player is playing up a division or in the same division? They don't allow players to play down in a division, correct?

I think that would solve a lot of the D3 teams complaints...

I would think/hope that only one CPP player is allowed. With the expanded roster size, injury or other excuses shouldn't be an issue to needing multiple CPP's anymore.

CPP Rule Change Empty Re: CPP Rule Change

CPP and "club keeps the bye" are both bad for the league. They should dump both of those rules. Sports are merit based. Shouldn't matter who you know, where you're from, what you're mommy and daddy did, how much money you have, none of that. YOU get what YOU earn. If you stray from that principle, then it's no longer SPORTS, it's politics, it's a secret club, it's a popularity contest and none of those things are sports.

Keep it simple, keep it pure, keep it merit based. You want it? Earn it. That's the great life lesson that sports teach.

Somehow, a bunch of adults got together and came up with a way to pollute that very basic principle.

Agree 100%. That also eliminates any room for whining and complaining. You want it, earn it. If you can't earn it, you don't deserve it.

Not just a D3 complaint. In D1 and had to face it a few times last season and likely would this year as well.

This is what was announced as the new rule - only one CPP player allowed.

I was told that teams could only bring one CPP player down but I didn't hear anything about the total number of CPP players. Is the total number one or is the total number more than one and only one can come from a level above?

1. If the roster size is 18 then what is the rationale for any CPP's? 7 subs isn't enough?

2. What is the rationale for a CPP from D1 to play in a lower division?

No rationale, just rationalization.

#1. So they can win or tie a game that they didn't think they could win or tie otherwise.

#2. So they can win or tie a game that they didn't think they could win or tie otherwise.

BTW, after a year and a half of CPP, having 2 daughters in D3 at different ages, neither daughter has ever played against a CPP from a lower division. Not ever.

Per meeting last night...

only CPP rule change is that only 1 player may play down but you can still have a total of 3 CPP players per game until last games of season.

So you could have 1 player play down and 2 players play up for a total of 3 per game. All other rules the same.

To answer your questions from the perspective of the "spirit of the rule":

1. injuries
2. little Mia that is not getting playing time in D1, little Mia that was on the bubble during tryouts and she hasn't risen to the level of play expected, injury rehab assignment........

Yeah, and we know how the "spirit of the rule" works.. Like I said previously, rationalization.. With respect to #1, if injuries were the basis, then CPP would rarely be used, and #2, maybe little Mia shouldn't be on a D1 team to start with.

1. Injuries have already been solved by having an 18 player roster.
2. If little Mia isn't getting enough PT then she needs to be on the permanent roster of the lower team. If the upper team has a thin roster and enough injuries little Mia could still be reassigned permanently to the upper team.

Well 1 player down is certainly a big improvement to the rule. This is not basketball... Outside super elite players, one player does not make a team.

I doubt teams will send their best stud down. With this rule change it is more likely their intent will be realized.

Post by canaryman 12/08/15, 12:21 pm

We saw CPP used quite a few times last year in D3, and never was it "little Mia that is not getting playing time in D1, little Mia that was on the bubble during tryouts and she hasn't risen to the level of play expected, injury rehab assignment"

It was always the "stud" forward from the D1 team or the shut down sweeper or whoever was going to help them WIN...always the better players from the D1 team...never a player that needed "development".

But I guess only allowing 1 is somewhat of an improvement...but CPP is still a rule that is not needed IMO...especially with 18-players rosters now

What about CPP within same division?  So if a club has, say 2 D2 or D3 teams, can they share players through CPP?  And how many?  Just 1 or up to 3?

Same division 'player passing' remains the same as before....up to 3 CPP players per game (until the last 3 games of the season)

The new rule change affects 'division down' player passing only.

Is it true that the CPP players can only play in one game on the same day?  So if the stud forward plays down on the DIII team then they could not play for DI team that afternoon?  Is that correct?
