Colvin and I were having popcorn together, reading all the amazing submissions you have posted in last few months.  He thinks he knows who you are now.

You are Colvin ???

You better focus more on player development ! Work harder, otherwise you are not only going to lose this weekend, but also going to lose to us soon.

The secret to success is playing down an age group? Seem like trophy hunting in hopes you can add that to your many recruiting posts. Yall wont win even playing down. SRSA or Kicks, either one, can beat Black.

Bump. Is Solar Black listed as '07 really the current '06AP team?

It is my understanding that yes the Solar MS team that plans to play 06AP JDL is playing in traditional 07 bracket this weekend.

Just as the Kicks JM 05 team that plans to be JDL 05 is playing traditional in the 06 bracket.

But I could be wrong but looking at the got soccer links to their accounts directly from SuperCopa schedule that is what it appears to be.

Solar black has kids that are school age 06, so super copa is allowing July-jan 06 to play in school age 07 group.. effectively playing down?

Hopefully the older ones that weren't of age on his team to play 07 traditional got to guest play on another 06 team in the SuperCopa. It may not be as great as last year but it will be a fun event nonetheless.

Short answer is No. Eight of the 12 teams are SY, not AP. There are no Jan-July 06s on any of the rosters.

There you have it...so no one is technically playing down based on the tournament format. I think timmyh said it best. Some AP teams got mixed in because of lack of actual AP teams. Im sure they are not crying at this point since the 07 AP teams are really good, and most likely were playing with these same traditional girls 5-6 months ago, maybe even the most recent season. I seem to remember my DD's 06AP team getting smoked by the 07 solar red team in league play, btw Ive never so many helicopters/roulette moves in one game, was fun to see! Same may be said about the 06 group. Im just grateful we don't have to brave the intersection of death, so if anyone wants updates on the bronze bracket of the premier copa, let me know.

Right nobody is playing down. That was just fabricated by an 07 parent with an unhealthy obsession.

The reality is some teams signed up/qualified as school year 07 (Aug-July) and some teams signed up/qualified as AP (Jan-Dec). The tournament decided a week or two ago to combine AP and SY teams. So if you want to be critical of any age differences I think those concerns should be redirected to the TD. So to say that any of the SY teams registered to play down is revisionist history.

Big question is: why is this at DYSP? The fields are not great. Might be the last Supercopa as we know it lots of out of town teams missing.

Have you been lately? The last few weeks, the fields have been in great shape.
The parking is another story. A lot of people trying to fit in one place.

SoCal teams these age groups won't come for copa anymore. They were not happy with the shock treatment last year.

Phy play that refs don't call here.  They were not used to the punishment their kids took and they dont think we play soccer here. These were the words from the out of town SoCal folks . They called this style of play "electric shock treatment " and feel it's not worth the trip.

That makes sense but are you sure that it not the fact that SoCal teams have big egos also and really cannot stand to lose to their closes competition nationally. Also, you think it is any different Texas teams traveling to surf cup or blues cup. Texas teams make that trip every year to continue to compete. The United States soccer world is growing and California is having a hard time excepting it.

Good job to all of the dds for enduring extreme weather conditions for 5 to 6 games and always giving their best.

Observations:
1) NTX teams protected home field as I believe a DFW based team won every division from U9-U13 except 1.
2) Our NTX dds are developing well as soccer players tactically and technically. Historically, from 2000 & before, NTX was known for lots of superior athletes but not a plethora of technical and tactically sound players.
3) Hats off to DTS, SR, & SB for making the semi finals and for making an all NTX final.  The SR vs. DTS semi was a great game!
4) Much respect to the Solar Red 06 AP team for a well played final. Excellent team!
5) Congrats to the Sting Black 06 AP team for winning a HIGHLY competitive division! In particular, I was glad they were able to play teams from CA & NJ.
6) Last, the AP 05 division, is loaded. DTS, Liverpool, FCD, SR, and Kicks are ALL outstanding teams. Fun division to watch!
7) Next, I hope Sting Black & Solar Red can represent NTX well at Surf Cup....and build on the 06 reputation that Kicks Selecao (Champion) and Sting Black (semi finalist) started at last year's Surf. Good luck!

Agree with Skeets observations & 06 Southgirl! Congrats to the champs Sting Black, had a tough path and took care of business. TREMENDOUS effort by SB, DTS, and Solar Red for those are the teams I got to see play the most. Some really competitive games, and have a lot of respect for the players truly leaving it all on the field. Hate to see the sad faces after the games but understand the competitive spirit of these young ladies, know there is always an opportunity for growth based on that experience. "what areas do we need to address, what could of we done better, how can we better prep, etc". Incorporate those specific things into your training, whatever they may be. That is the ultimate trophy!

Good luck NTX at Surf!
