Blanket statements are of no value and neither are the HSO's on this forum, but we must plow through the workday somehow...

Yes because these coaches always get it right at 10-years old. Know a kid pretty well who was 3rd team at the start and Regional team a few years later.
ODP is different for every single kid, so blanket statements really are of no value.
Based on forum comments, less and less top players come out each year and there are more teams in the first year. It sounds like any player can get promoted by simply coming out each year. Returning players don't even have to try out. Am I misunderstanding?

ODP at the local NTX level has always been of questionable value. Works for some, not so much for others. These days there are other ID programs that many players prefer. Having choices is good.
All things being equal, there is still tremendous value in the program if you make Regional Team. Exposure to lots of college coaches and kids you'll wind up playing with/against at the next level. But no, you won't make that team just by showing up.

It's your money. If you have it and time to spend... AND find it to be valuable to your DD given the talent she is competing against... AND see it as development rather than a new shirt to wear for possible bragging purposes... THEN go for it.
